A thread for the boatless

OK
Time to admit that I've been boatless for 3 years - I have a little 19' Wellcraft in the backyard that I F-around with now and then, but I don't see it hitting the water anytime soon. I just don't have that much motivation for it, I'd rather save the money and spend it on the boat I really want.
I know I'm not the only one that show's up at this site daily to live "vicariously" through everyone elses boating expeditions.

So, I'm calling you all out :evilb:

Who else is currently boatless, Broken down trailer queens, you count too.

Crap. I already admitted it.

Good idea, force the rest out of hiding.

What if we all trailer our boats to the parking lot of some Wal Mart and line them all up like we are rafting? Like tailgating.

Why not?

My stereo works.

Nobody would ever know that it doesn't actually float.

bouyhunter 06-18-2005 07:32 AM

Re: A thread for the boatless

That's the attitude Fund :D

We can all Trailer our P.O.S. - or lack there of - to a marina and just sit in the parking lot.
Crank the radio, set up a grill.

I'm on the 2 year plan before I get the boat I want... :D
So, anyone that has an old Mistress, take good care of it for me for the next 2 years - then I'll be looking  BUYING :evilb:

Sometimes floating is overrated - and very expensive.

WORD UP !!!!!!!!! First summer in a looooong time with no ride.... I have missed it dearly a few days but all in all until my current job ends, my weekends are pretty much fried. This fall I will start a new job somewhere else and set up camp on a big lake and then have saved enough money by not having a boat to get the one I really want....
been peeking at few now and will grab one if the deal is right but for now my time is limited until my job changes.

Money saved this year if I dont by a boat until this winter:

$6,112 = 8 Boat Payments (sold it in April)
$1,942 = Insurance
$3,200 = Gas
$1,200 = maintenance (assuming no problems)
$2,400 = food/beer
$3,000 = at least one Poker Run
$2,000 = one boating vacation

Total = $19,854

That money saved will get me about 6 months worth of insurance on my next one  :evilb:

Sold F2-40 Lady Hustler 5/02 and just sold our Toyota Epic ski boat last week. Don't have time right now but we will be back racing when time permits. Look out you Factory 1 guys! Or maybe an A boat again! Could it be time for a canopy? Clay currently boatless!

Re: A thread for the boatless

I should start a new thread "yet to get wet"

its June 18th and my boat is still sitting in the back yard :( It did rain thru June 1st in New England and since then doing repairs from last year that should have been done in April, b'day parties, graduation parties and yard work since. So I'm "boatingless" paying for insurance and the boat!

Lost my TopGun backm to original owner in The National Marine Fiasco.

I want to buy a new boat, but the Legal Mess is just stating to gain speed. I still have an open loan on a boat I don't(never did) own. This is the biggest hurdle so far.

Plus, National was the SECOND dealer to rip me off in 18 months. Maybe I should learn from this and just hang with all of you.

:( :(

I should delete my moans and groans.

Greg, I've read about your issue in other threads, is there any resolve pending??

Re: A thread for the boatless

Thanks for the thought CMG.

No resolve so far. I have a lawyer(our very own Donz) that is very good at this type of litigation. I trust him completely with my interest. The tough part is letting it play out while I sit in the house on weekend while Summer slips away.

Luckily, because of people on this site, I seem to always have a boat ride somewhere. The Lucky Strike clan gave me a seat for Jacksonville, and others have made offers for several other events.

I WILL get this done, just have to hope it all works out for the best.

Greg

Boat? I go with my father, law school and divorce cost me what would have been a nice 35' Fountain. Oh well, in due time. The old man sold boat I have riding in the past 18 years with him, the Magnum (delivered it today), I will be boating in the Whaler, which is cool with me. A Phantom in the near future? Maybe.

Count me in.

I sold the Scarab last June. It's been a whole year now without going to the lake. What's really sad about this? This is the first time in my entire 35 years on earth that I have not spent almost EVERY weekend of the summer at the lake. Until last spring I have ALWAYS had something to go to the lake in. My parents put me on the boat Labor Day weekend after I was born and I haven't looked back since.

Is there a phone number I can call that offers some kind of support?

Buck

OK. I'm in this club too. I live in boater heaven and overlook 27 different Islands and "keys". I see all kinds of water craft cruising in the ocean when I'm on the porch and just want to be the one making the thundering engine noise every now and again.

I have absolutely no justification to complain about my situation other than I'm stuck as a land lubber right now. Every time I look at boats the dam things get more expensive. My satisfaction range at this point is around 100k it seems (used).

I love the rafitng in the parking lot idea that is funny as chit. I am looking and shopping hard though. There are always many project boats here but the catch is the techs are always too busy to help out the project kind of guy.

soon wet hopefully.

Oh I have a boat. I wish I was boatless though. I really need to get my butt out there and get it running so it can be sold.

I actually have had more fun lately fishing with the kids in the Glastron. Uses less gas too!

Trailer queen for now. One of my engines spun a bearing about a month ago. Engines out, machinings done, going back together now. In the water this weekend, I hope.

The good news is I'll only be on this list for one more week. A year and a half without boating has been painful. :(

One more week and I am back in. This is the first year since 1988 that i have not had a boat before the 4th. It was supposed to be here today but now it looks like next week. It is nothing super but gets me out and is affordable on fuel and insurance. Plus I can cruise hanky panky now and not get caught in a sausage fest raft just to hear the scream of LET EM BREATH. This is one I had before, the new one has a 115 4 stroke EFI, no more blue smoke.

At the end of this summer will be 2.5 years boatless. This is the first time I've not had a boat in 35 years :( This has been a rude introduction as to what landlubbers do with their summers and I don't like it one bit

But...I'll be shopping for a used Powerplay next winter  Maybe a Mistique if there is a good enough deal on one. Hurry winter :evilb:
