Re: Goodbye Oso!
Congrats! Maybe you can get stationed in Key West. I was in the Navy. I had a lot of great times and saw a lot of cool stuff while in the service.

Re: Goodbye Oso!
Yeah, ya could have gone postal to liven things up a bit.
How long is your gig? You quit the USPS for the USCG? Are you right in the head? Just wondering???? Hopefully it will be all it can be for you. |
Re: Goodbye Oso!
No Ron, I'd miss You too much. :D
I was accepted into a Direct Petty Officer (Reserve) program. I go to Training for a few weeks then come out as a Petty Officer. I won't be giving up my Postmaster job anytime soon :drink: |

He's probably just going on Vacation for a couple weeks with a Fat broad to the Hostess Cake factory, and doesn't want to admit it. instead he comes up with a "petty officer" story. He Really meant to say "Plenty of Orfices". :D

Re: Goodbye Oso!
Good luck Capo. If I get pulled over again like I did in '95 I'll look for ya!!!!!!! (by pulled over I meant helicopters and gun boats)
|
Re: Goodbye Oso!
Good Luck Cap!!! I put in 5 years active Coast Guad and about 7 or so more years in the reserves in Cape May. I was at Cape May, Wildwood, Honolulu and Governors Island. Loved the guard, but decided to get out and go to college and the rest is history.... Always thought about going back in as an officer... probably too old at this point!!! What is the age limit???
Anyway, Best of luck to you!!!! |
Re: Goodbye Oso!
I was told the age limit is 35. I'm 34 now so I didn't have much time to think about it. I leave for training in Cape May July 10th. I was assigned to CG Station Barnegat Light N.J. As a Petty Officer Third Class / Mk 3 for a reserve contract of 6 years.

Re: Goodbye Oso!
I'm 39, so probably to late!!! I was an ET2, then they started shutting down all the Loran stations and it became very difficult to advance due to not enough ET jobs and too many ET's running around when they eliminated the Loran jobs.... You'll like it, it's a really great branch of the service. Very small in numbers which means closer knit groups....
Good Luck!!! I'm sure we'll see you around, like the rest of us, can never get boating out of your system... Brian |
Re: Goodbye Oso!
I would never say Too Late. When I was at Fort Dix being processed I was the second oldest :D The oldest was a 42 year old male nurse who was there to head into the Army. They waived his age, and were processing him as an officer. He was going to be an OR nurse in the Army over in Iraq. he said he always wanted to be in a MASH type setting and after working or's and er's in the city he wanted to do it.

Re: Goodbye Oso!
Congrats man..
I have met and known my share of Coasties.. The service treated them all very well. I haven't met one that was not happy being in the CG... I did a lot of work with CG Maimi when I was doing boat lifts. Great people.. Please remamber one thing though.. My paperwork is good, and I have all my safety gear on board... So no need to stop me. :drink: |
