Running 10w30 is not going to hurt anything. 10w30 oil will flow better in a cold motor when copared to starigh 30. This oil debate is getting old. Synthetic vs dino. Multi vs straight. etc, etc. #1 priority keep FRESH oil in your motor!

Do you know how fast 10-30 will break down running 5,000 rpms ?? I don't, but I certainly would not risk it considering merc. reccomends a minimum of 20-50...

actually merc recommends 40 and recommends 50 but not their #1 choice, that is why they use 25w40

Opinions are like...here's mine. Straight 40, every 50 hours.
325 hours and running stronger than ever.
I wouldn't use this if your boating in 40 degree weather. But who would do that. JC

I would suppose in a stock motor, 25 hours isn't going to kill it with that oil but I personally wouldn't run it more than a few hours until you have the time or resources to change it out.
Thanks for providing the same answer I would have provided.
