We've had a couple of squawls go through before dawn, but calmed down for now.

Johno: you get your boat off that lift and back onto your trailer????

I drove from Tally to Deland today. The weather wasn't bad at all until I hit Ocala. Raining like hell here right now. There was hardly any traffic on the road today. I took US 27 and US 19 coming back because I got on I 10 in Tally, and it was bumper to bumper as far as I could see. I guess people trying to get over to I 75 then up towards Atlanta. I don't think I passed 15 cars from outside of Tally to Cross City.

Re: Well Fla. here we go again and early too.

We were lucky down here. Didn't get that much rain, considering, and only a couple of wind gusts to maybe 35 mph.

Wish the best of luck to the people up in the Panhandle, they are going to need all they can get.

Storm has moved 4 degr. to the East, headed towards Navare/Mary Ester/Ft.Walton beach area. 15'-19' wave surge, be careful everyone.

Re: Well Fla. here we go again and early too.

It's a nasty cat 4 storm and is about to pummel Pensacola and area. They're just barely rebuilding from Ivan. My heart goes out to those folks.

Here, it's been quite windy, gusts to about 50 or 60, lots of rain, and a good 3 to 4 foot storm surge. Our street's underwater and a lot of houses look like they're flooded. :( :(

I second that cigdaz. I think we all in St. Pete feel lucky/giulty and feel for those poor folks i n the panhandle. Where in St. pete are you? Hope the water stays outta your place.

We are actually starting to see some sun down here. Been popping in and out for about the last hour or so. Winds dying down, but water still rather high.

I feel so sorry for those poor people up in the Panhandle. They're gonna get slammed hard. Just doesn't seem fair, or right......

Thanks mneal. We made it through just fine this time. The water's slowly draining away. It's just about high tide now and it's still subsiding, so that's a good sign. We live on the Bayside, Shore Acres.

Watching the weather channel now, it's a nasty scene in the panhandle. Best of luck to everyone!

Looks like we made it...

Just got back on the island with Fire/Rescue. Looks really good so far, Orange Beach never lost power and NO major damage seen yet. Even some satellite dishes still on roof tops and trash cans upright. We got really lucky here and feel for the folks in Gulf Breeze and Ft. Walton. Gonna be raining here and slightly breezy for awhile, but the beaches are still intact and NO REPORTED injuries as of yet.
Hey Rick lets submit to Coastal Living, maybe you can be a feature writer...
See ya'll in August
