Thanks for all the input. I think I want to stay with a 99 or newer model. Just seems like a good breaking point.

As far as Superboat goes, I may take a look at that. I guess my only real concern on that would be the cost of insurance. Isn't there a break at 30' where insurance jumps really high? I had heard that from a friend who went from a 28' Sleekcraft Enforcer to a 31' Scarab. He said the insurance went to over $1200.00/year.

I have no real knowledge of Superboat. Never heard of them before finding this board. It seems as though everyone here talks highly of them. From what I've read on their website, they seem to be more of a custom builder.

Regardless, I can't make a move until spring. I have to fulfill some other obligations before making the purchase. One of those wife things. As Hiperf2000 said Happy Wife=Happy Me!

JayHawk, We will be glad to help you spend your money!

All good advice above. Something I would add to consider with your purchase is customer service. I have a PowerQuest and have had nothing but very good luck with working with the factory (and I bought the boat used!).

Grand Lake has a PowerQuest dealer. They are not too far from you. The PQ's are screwed together pretty well and as a added bonus, there not very many of them around.

Good Luck with your search.

I will not tell you what to buy but I spent a season on the lake with a 28 pantera and we went where we wanted when we wanted. Some days are pretty rough but I never had a problem or feared for my life in the boat.

I will say I wouldn't have wanted anything less on holiday weekends especially from the 21mm in. Weekdays you can drive anything you want, just watch out for the occasional cruiser wake. My neighbors wife broke a bone in her back a few weeks ago riding in the front of their boat when the hit a big wake while pulling a tube behind their 21 footer.

Jayhawk,
If you will be at the Ozarks for the Shootout, look for a 25' Active Thunder called "One Vision" either at Shooters21, or making a run at the Shootout. I'd be glad to take you for a ride if you'd like. I may also be coming down to the lake Aug. 5th, 6th & 7th.

Let me talk to the wife on that one and I'll get back to you. I appreciate the offer. Where in Shawnee are you? I lived there for fifteen years. SMNW grad 1989 then on to KU (several years later though).

Thanks again!

Very good boat! I've riden in OSO's Cattitude's Pantera and it seems like one hell of a ride!

I can get you in a 28 Cig and it's here on Grand , but not able to help you with the 99' and newer thing...

John,
I have GOT to find a way to do the handles and cupholders in my bolsters like yours.

Jayhawk,
I live in the old part, 65th and Neiman area. I'm a firefighter in Shawnee and am stationed at Shawnee Mission parkway and K-7.
Thought about selling mine also, but girlfriend loves it, and I got no problem keeping it to make her happy.
The offer for the ride is open if you'd like. Tell the wife I'll take it easy on her. Hell, she can drive if she'd like.
