Will the pain ever stop?

I've had the worst season in history built new motors relocated everything, you know how that goes....waited for ever for my EMI dry stacks missed the 4th waiting for them. Get it all going before SOTW :drink: and ran all weekend had a small oil leak. Think I fixed it last week, hooked up Sunday hit the bearing buddies with the grease gun pulled it 3 miles and tore up a spindle!!!!  I dont lose bearings you can fix that the dang thing self destructs, start over!!!What do you think the chance is that I can get 2 new axels and get them installed before the weekend??Chit looks like I ride shot gun on the fun run this weekend. :(

Don,

If you need it, you can use my trailer; the boat is in rack storage anyhow. It's set up for a 29' Powerquest, straight V, no step. Should be close enough for your 31 Sonic, I would think.

Let me know and we can work out a way to get it to you....

Re: Will the pain ever stop?

I had basically the same problem on Thursday before the Spring OPBA Poker Run. I had some work down two years ago by "Two Brothers" trailers/repairs down in Englewood, called them Thurday afternoon, and they said bring it in first thing in the morning. They replaced two axles (the third was replaced two years ago) and four sets of bearings and had me on the road before eleven am. Saved my azz.

Bud, I'm not using it - the boat is in rack storage. Just say the word, I'll meet you in Lansing or something. Just have a 2 5/8 ball and you're good to go.

I know how much you've been waiting for this trip, I'd hate to see you leave the Exxon Valdez, um, I mean the Sonic at home. ;)

Didn't you just put some new axles on it last year?

I use a place called Rigid Hitch out of Minnesota. Good prices and alot of stuff in stock. They sell anything related to trailering. Give em a try at 800-624-7630

Good Luck

Get 'r Done Dyno - summer is only here for a little while. I've got a good hyd. jack and some stands if you need extras. Probably a biotch of a job with the boat on. Be safe not sorry.

You probably have a better chance of getting pregnant :( .

On a brighter note , YOU can't break anything riding with someone else

No, its a 13 year old Manning....

Hey, 13 years is GREAT! I got all of two seasons out of my Rocket with regular trailering, and that was a stretch. Good luck Dyno.

Re: Will the pain ever stop?

I have to say that my Magnum trailer (www.magnumtrailer.com) is almost 15 years old and still tracks nice and true. It's a little rusty here and there, but that can be fixed (and will be this winter, I think). For a 1991 trailer it is in pretty good shape.

http://www.axisproducts.com is the place to call. They built me an axle to my specs for a Integrity trailer. Showed up at my door 3 days later. Perfect match! They have everything, leaf springs, brakes, axles, etc. Check it out. Keith

Dyno,

If for some reason you can't make it to the Fun Run with your boat after all this, I'm going to be in it running solo this year and would love to have your company. My payback for your "loan" of a couple ounces of gear lube last year! I'm driving up to the cottage on Charlevoix Friday night. Hope to see you in your boat.

Randy

Re: Will the pain ever stop?

Good news Don. Those Manning trailers are the best. 13 years is unheard of in a trailer that is dunked weekely. I bet the axle was not too bad, I had to buy 3 last season, about $250 each. You should have called and asked for help, you keep forgetting this :D . See you on the water.

Don, glad to see it worked out. No sitter for us, so no fun run. Maybe next year - I've already got it in the schedule. Actually sounds like it might be more fun that SOTW....

And my boat should have a bit more bling by then - just ordered a few widgets from Trick, and I spent 3 hours cleaning the cabin the other day. It *was* nasty.... don't think it was ever cleaned!

dyno 07-21-2005 10:43 AM

Mike all that Bling is just going to slow you down!!!Like they say about cars if it dont run chrome it!!!! I just splash some oil on it :D

Re: Will the pain ever stop?

:D

I wish my engine compartment looked as good as yours, oil or not. PQ wasn't much on the slick looks back when my boat was built, but I might be able to dress her up a bit. Gonna be bee-yotch to get under the mills to scrub the bilge though!
