I am looking to possibly purchase a 99 Scarab 29' with a 502 MAG MPI. Are there any issues with this boat? What kind of speeds? I am assuming 60-65? Is it a good hull for upgrades ie: 496HO with Whipple? Anyone try an IMCO shorty?

All advice would be appreciated!

I had a '99 with T-350Mag and it ran 69/70. Never had any issues at all with the boat. I never ran one with a single though. Good luck.

IMHO the 29Scarab is one of the best boats every built ,,, it has good offshore looks ,,, yes it will run 65 with a 502, and it will perform in 3-5 waves with a high degree of safety... the only limatations is the cabin space-- however it is only 29feet of boat ,,, the upside is that they are very cheap to operate ,,, If you want more ,, just turn the 502 into a 540 with Dart heads and then a XR or Max Machine drive and you will get to 75 real quick,,,, Good luck with your new Boat !!

also ,, the single has much better balance than the twins ,,, and it uses less fuel and is easy to service,,,
