charlie, do you have any plans to duplicate the paint scheme, etc?

EXACTLY!! We plan to restore it back exactly to the way it was as "Benihana". My dad even spoke to Rocky soon after we bought it and he promised to send us a bunch of old decals, pictures, etc.

My personal favorite old one was (is?) "Slap Shot"... In 1974 Art Norris (along with Bobby Moore on the throttles) won the US Championship with Billy Martin finishing 2nd in one of the many "Bounty Hunter"s.

Here's "Slap Shot" renamed "Tamarind Seed" in Key West in 1976. Anybody seen her since?

Also Bill Elswick's "Longshot"...ONE BADASS BOAT!!!

He was US Champ in 1980. The first picture was taken in the Bahamas in 1980, the 2nd under the bridge is Miami 1981, the last is Detroit in '80 - he's following "Rums of Puerto Rico" out...

Those pictures of Long Shot bring back some memories. Bill Elswick was one of the toughest guys ever to race offshore.

He and I competed against each other in the lower production classes and it was always a fight for each leg of the race. He loved rough water.... and we were always trying to psych each other out as to who could last longer in the big stuff.

One race to Bimini we each held on to the speed longer than we should have in big wave conditions...... and we both broke engine mounts coming off a very big wave on the re-entry.

We had a nice long ride back to Miami ....side by side on one engine.

The boat pictured, the big black Cigarette, was built not by Cigarette, but by Elswicks special crew.

He rented the mold from Don and had his own guys lay the boat up very light, but strong ......and he notched the transom to get water up to the props at a higher X dimension. It worked very well in rough water.

I am trying to find a picture to post of this boat. Does this guy in Seatle have any pics of it today?

Great piece of history this boat!

Awesome boat! Can't wait to check her out in person...

Hey LS Sr. - what ever happened to some of the other race boats you used to own?
Where did "Great Adventure"/"Berk's Law" Cigarette go?
