omc spitfire ignition

Default omc spitfire ignition

we rebuilt the motor and it needs to run at 5500 rpm....how do you bypass the rev limiter...1990 vip king cobra which tops out at 4800 rpm....thanks for your help

You will very likely have to change out the Spitfire igniton for an aftermarket such and Crane , Mallory , or heaven forbid MSD . I have never heard of being able to change the the factory limiter on OMCs

yep thats what we were thinking as well....change it out. but, i have seen in another forum where the rev limiter is bypassed by tieing one wire with another and the third wire is connected with a diode to ground....thanks for the input.
