This is the latest project we've finished. It is a new 388 slingshot w/ arnesons and TMP950EFI's. The boat is expected to be one of the fastest Slingshots built. We tested it at Hustler w/ 1.3 gears and 33" 5 blades ( the only props available. At 48% throttle we were at 5000 RPM's and 108 MPH. We've ordered bigger props and will be testing again soon. Top speed is expected to be well over 130MPH. Engines are a dream, idle at 850 RPM, make peak at around 5600, and come with a 6 month warranty.

Game On, you are like that kid at the gas pumps at Wal Mart when we pulled up with the Nashville Cats.....some little boy ran over headed to the props with BG telling him not to touch them with the kids father standing right there. What did he do, stuck his hand right in the middle of it...with his dad looking dumber than the kid....I think he was going to do it next? Those props are like pussie without the hair......you can't keep your hands off of them and you know you shouldn't touch it!

RIK, whats the difference in those asd-6 vs the 8's as far as length. And do they both operate the same in getting up on plane, reverse and hi speed stability. Just trying to make a comparison for my boat which is heavier and wider. I'm glad to see more people using Arnesons, everyone who I talk to like them from a reliability stand. Thanks Jeff

Did you guys or Hustler have to do anything with the bottom? I remember talking to Fiore a few years ago and he mentioned the boat was designed to go as fast with HP500's but the bigger powered boats got hairy and the hull/steps had to be modified.

Game on, are you going to the hill on Saturday? I am going to bare foot behind Meanstreak in a TMPT (Total Marine and Performance Thong).

They did change how they make the bottom so you can modify if need be. Joe said with the arneson or speedmaster the Bottom is fine , On bravos you have to use a little tab above 100. Joe said you can not modify the older design hull with out cutting into stringers :( It has too much stern lift.

thunderusone I like that :evilb:

I think we are going to go up Sunday, everyone has to come back Saturday night and Brian is working. Plus, MCPA is doing a raft up on Priest tomorrow. However, if the props make it in today, we will be going this afternoon...

yain - yaout??

You actually think E would let your hairy cheeks on the new vinyl??
Maybe if we tied your ankles together, attached you to the back of the boat and pulled you up and down the lake for an hour at 120. It might straighten your back out... :evilb: :evilb:

There is nothing majorly different about the bottom of this boat vs. a non Arneson boat.

how was it around the docks??

Game On 07-29-2005 12:17 PM

Re: Pics of TMP/Extreme Hustler Project

The docks were really crappy, boards were missing and nails were popping up.

:D :D

Actually...
I was told easier to manuver since the props were further back than on a bravo. No blower surging, and no drop in RPM's when tranny is engaged. Have to leave one motor in neutral and idle with other in a no wake zone or your moving too fast and making wake.

What speed ya seeing at idle? Mine idles at 750rpm at 9 mph and on one engine its 7.2 mph gps. it does leave a wake at 9.

Mike,

It would be a redline of 10205.............49% of 10,205 = 5000. ;) :p

totalmp 07-29-2005 12:47 PM

Re: Pics of TMP/Extreme Hustler Project

Unfortunately, Redline is around 5600. The boat was way underpropped, as they were gauging propeller and gear ratio from the turbo boat. Even with the 34" propellers at 5600 the boat should be around 128MPH, at probably around 75% throttle. We will be setting the boat up to cruise over 100, as the customer will be doing several poker runs.

Those numbers are incredible, that would be faster than every other comparable V Bottom. I cant imagine anyone not happy with those numbers with 950 per side. You guys should run that boat at the LOTO Shootout this year.

It went from 50 to over a hundred in about 3 seconds. The throttles are like playing with two chainsaws...the minute you stop respecting them, you are going to get your arms cutoff!

Anyone know what the appr. weight is of this hull, are the newer 388's lighter or slightly heavier, thanks Jeff

Sean H 07-29-2005 01:02 PM

Re: Pics of TMP/Extreme Hustler Project

388 is about 8500 lbs..... don't know if that is lighter or heavier than earlier versions, i would assume if anything, lighter?

30Spectre 07-29-2005 01:53 PM

Re: Pics of TMP/Extreme Hustler Project

Dont know if the older, Paul Fiore days, 388's are different than the newer ones, but, I know the Schott brothers(Black Cloud) out of LI had to shave 16 inches off the tail end of the inner pair of lifting strakes to make the boat controllable w/ ASD's.
I guess over 110 it was all over the place. They are the guys to talk to if bottom modding needs to be done. They've had it to 144 w/ their 1400's. I hear the new owner up here in the 1000 isles is knocking on 150 w/ it..

Re: Pics of TMP/Extreme Hustler Project

Well, I got my first Arneson lesson today. We were all standing around waiting on Fed-Ex to deliver the new props from Mercury. He finally rolled up about 4pm and we were slinging boxes and bolting them up. I put the small sleeve "big shaft #6" on and it still had a lot of play??? WTF??? Put the big sleeve "small shaft #3 or#5" and I still have slack??? Get out the Micrometer, a #6 Merc has 1.88" shaft, #5 or big shaft #3 has a 1.75" shaft.....but the Arneson 6 has a 1.69" shaft but still has the #6 Merc spline.....it just has no shoulder. Arneson overnighted the correct sleeves from Cali.....supposed to be here by 10AM. Hopefully we will be on the water tomorrow and can do some testing with the bigger wheels.
