I had to install mufflers to met new federal laws. The boat was already quiet enough at idle because the pipes turn down inside the transom and exit just below the waterline, just where the water enters the pipes anyway. It sounds like an old mahogany runabout idleing along but gets it voice back once on plane and the exhaust clears the water. Slightly modded hp500efi in an eliminator daytona.

next they are going to say my viper is too loud or my wifes 745 or well i guess they did tell me my cannondale dirt bike is to loud and i paid it, doh
my harley is really loud no issue there ??? hmmmm this chit dont make sense,., bunch of tree huggers pushin politians around or something.. its bs though....
I have a great idea lets all instead of this muff bs buy ear plugs for the dick heads... whats next u cant wear a blue lifejacket ? or have black stries on the boat.. its all bs revenue for the state and a reason for them to puill u over..
they should be pullin over the dopes on jetskis and the newbie dopes that just signed up for a boat with 0 experience,, the guy with a go fast has generally had some seat time and has a clue,, that does not apply for the majority of what i seee out thiere on in other crafts.
ok thats my o2
anyway no muffs here.
for now anywway

KL, it's hit and miss. Jonas will know better but I've been hearing mixed things. Don't worry about it for the Big Cat. How could they possibly stop 150+ boats? Just don't be a straggler and you'll be fine!

No real mufflers but I use the silent choice (which I love) around locks and marinas religiously........I think by law your supposed to have a "muffling device" but Ive been beside several cop boats and they dont give me a hassle at all but Im always in quiet mode.......spoke to one cop about it he said......and I quote "personally Im ok with it" (open pipes) "but if the guys being a jackazz , like reving the hell out of it in a confined area, Im gonna do something about it"......sounds reasonable to me

20' Bayliner 1988 w/ twin Zul 1050s
Over transom dry exhaust - no mufflers

I never get stopped because the cops think the noise is coming from them "Cigar" boats all around me.

Sorry, Semper. This thread was too serious.
