Re: time to start shoppin

Yeah that's gotta feel good! Nice choice for moving up too! Panteras are bad azz! Are you gonna keep the powerplay?

And I don't like to think of it as being irresponsible with my money. I like to think of it as supporting my local community as best I can by drinking away several thousands every year at the bar! :D :evilb:

traviss 08-19-2005 08:58 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

yes I will hopefully keeping the powerplay.. It might have to go if I move up and need some extra $$$. The only thing I worry about is insurance, 8 points on my license and they are probably gonna stick it to me

How 'bout a 290 Powerquest - cheap and room for the ladies ;)

traviss 08-21-2005 09:37 AM

Re: time to start shoppin

I'll pass. Never really liked the looks of the 25-30 powerquests.. i consider them more of a family boat. I don't have many ladies and only need one thing.. 28 ft.... huge power and 1 frickin seat :D

Magic Medicine 08-21-2005 09:39 AM

Re: time to start shoppin

Re: time to start shoppin

Thats the one I have had my eye on. I have to talk to my bank to see if they will give me a loan of that size and for how long... before I go looking to seriously. I don't even want to wonder what the insurance will be for that with my record... but hey its just money, I'll might have to sell the powerplay to pay for the beginning cost :D

would anyone around here be interested in my powerplay?.. I don't know if I can sell it easy or not.. being that is has a custom motor that runs on 110 octane. Is there a market for this boat, or is it better to sell it without power.?

rws 08-21-2005 05:30 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

I would Lower Compression so it would run on Pump Gas .My Small Block runs on Pump gas and I still spend a lot on Gas.

onesickpantera 08-21-2005 05:31 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

Trav, how hard would it be to make it a 92 octane motor? Could you swap out heads, back off timing. etc? Or would that affect other aspects of the motor?

ctadams21 08-21-2005 05:38 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

My 31' Stinger is for sale at Lakewideyachtbrokerage.com.
I know it's not a Pantera but it has HP500s and it won't break the bank.

Good luck with the boat search!

traviss 08-21-2005 05:45 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

To make it run on 93 octane, new pistons and a camshaft I would think. Camshaft required more then 11:1 CR . I have AFR 210's on it now. 68 cc chambers with domed pistons. if your were to try and make it run on 93. It would take pistons then a smaller camshaft and smaller heads, cause with the pistons & cam change the heads would be to big I would think.

nice stinger bro

Re: time to start shoppin

Get a Saber Traviss, you won't be disappointed plus the factory will only be a couple hours away if you have any questions or need their services. There was a really nice one out in California, might still be for sale. Last price I saw was under 30k. It has twins with high hours, perfect for you since you'll build the crap out the engines anyway!

traviss 08-21-2005 06:23 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

The only saber I know of is the one is grand haven.. Its in the oso classifieds. All white with a single 502... no fun :D :D

anybody have any experiance with challenger boats?

BGIII 08-21-2005 06:25 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

Trav, there is 28 Challenger for sale a couple miles from my shop. This one is white with black stripes.

Hey travis i wonder if you could tell me what oil pan to order for a stock 260 that is rusted out that i am helping a friend replace.I was thinking of ordering it from summit unless you know of someone else. thanks

traviss 08-21-2005 06:54 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

how old is the the 260.. i think 86 and up were one piece rear main seals, different oil pan then the older motors. check ebay there should be a few on there. I bought mine from champ pans. had a few special baffles and a windage tray I think was around $200, 7 qt pan. Merc gets about $195 for a new replacment

here is one for 86 and up.. 3 hrs left

traviss 08-21-2005 07:50 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

no sled shoppin.. my is still wreaked sitting in the shop. don't know if I am going to fix and ride or just fix and sell.. if I buy boat before winter I will not ride.. cause concrete work during the winter is slow and will need to pay for boat instead..

BGIII 08-21-2005 07:52 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

cockpit cover

traviss 08-21-2005 08:07 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

cool. This challenger is very tempting. :) I am going to talk to a few of my banks and the insurance people this week, to see what they wil give me and how high my insurance will be for a boat in the 28 ft range. if all goes well I might be over to take a look at it in a few weeks or so..

BGIII .. you don't want a powerplay as a backup boat?? adult owned :D

tommymonza 08-22-2005 01:26 PM

Re: time to start shoppin

Hey Travis ,thanks for the info on the oil pan.
By the way i think your crazy getiing a new twin engine big block boat, you will have to sell your powerplay just to pay for one summer of gas
