Yea, what you said. Count me out on that ride! Not with the lack of stuff to grab in the cockpit, besides your own butt. That landing could not have looked pretty. The air is very impressive!
You have to admit they (Cobalt) missed the mark with putting an anchor in the nose. Even though it is an option, it should not be.
What I was implying as it not being a serious offshore boat was based on the cockpit layout and the conservative stance Cobalt has always presented. You will have to agree that Pac or Paxson would never venture into factory class racing like Fountain, Laveycraft, Baja, Formula and others.

Yeah they said that the boat was not meant for speed, but its not really practical for anything, I drove the 343 w/ 525's that San Ramon Boat Center had, it took the small stuff pretty well, but there isnt much space for movement and nothing to hold onto to brace for impact, the seats are in the middle of the boat. Its nice for cruising around in flat water.

On the more practical end, I got to drive a 263 w/ a 525 EFI, we got 65 mph at Lake Tahoe, it was crazy, and loud as hell. The exhaust kicks in at 3000 rpm, it was Captain's Call equipped (which isnt the smartest idea). There is a lot more room and a hell of a lot more stuff to grab onto.

My best buddy has a 360 w/ 420hp 8.1 volvos and for a big tub it will run 55-57mph. Impressive boat. I rode w/ coblat's test driver on this very boat and he shifted one drive from foward to reverse, at speed and the boat just turned around. Nothing in the cabin moved, not even the potted silk plants. Scared the sh*t out of me when I saw him reach for the shifters!
I know af another guy who has a 246 w/ the 425 hp merc motor and it will run an honest 70 mph. They still don't trip my trigger for go fast stuff but for ammeneties, you can't beat them.
