A friend of mine had a late 80's 30' NJ Avanti with major stringer problems . Started the repairs himself because professional repair was over $6000. Ripped it all apart and found out why it was so expensive...gave up and let the bank repo it and was happy to be rid of it

Mold work is horrible on most every one I have ever seen. Hull sides have major waves in them. Check the bottom of the boat, usually quite a bit of hook near the stern. Strakes are never straight either. Resale is not very good either from what I have seen. Had a friend with one and it was a POS.
