Ft. Lauderdale

My girlfriend and I are heading for Ft Lauderdale for a much needed vacation we leave Friday and return next Thursday. While I am down there I want to check out some boat places I already have plans to visit the cig plant and lipships, but any other suggestions would be appreciated. Any general suggestions on palces to eat or vist would also be very helpful. Thanks in advance for your help.

Shooters is a must. Get there about 4:00 pm. on saturday and sunday afternoons. Seems that a lot of local OSO`rs show up there for some reason. And don`t forget to have a piece of their world famous key lime pie.

It's really weird, my boss just moved down there. He's living in Boca of all places and has always wanted to move down that way as long as I can remember.

It doesn't sound like he likes it to much. He said that people are stealing pocket books right out of cars when they're filling up at gas stations.

He said it's the land of trust fund babies, people who made $$ illegally, nuevo rich....

Then the hurricane to top it off... If I were to guess, he'll be back soon...

Actually, it`s not just a "pistol'' logo and no, I don`t really need it. I do have a couple of HK rifles and I always liked the logo so I use it. It makes it easy for me to pick out my posts when I scroll down in a hurry. Damn! now your even taking shots at my avitar. What`s with that? You can have one too you know....an avatar I mean. I detect ''issues'' that leads me to believe you should`nt have firearms. :D

As for the question do I take my daughters to Shooters? I don`t have any children.

Yours Truly

Mr. needs to have a pistol logo as his avatar.

As far as Lauderdale goes...........coming from NY.......it is not what people are saying here. You must check out Pier 66 Hyatt.........you will love it. The top 360 degree spinning bar is a blast. Check out the strip by Bahia Mar, great restaurants. Let me know, I am in Jupiter, FL :drink:

One really good deal in Ft Lauderdale is the water taxi system. My wife and I got on one of the smaller ones after lunch at Shooters and rode it most of the afternoon. The female captain showed us all the celeb houses and took us to some really nice places on the canals. She even stopped at one end while we bought drinks before heading back to Shooters. I think it was 5 bucks a head or so for about 3 hours worth of sightseeing on a boat. Heck bring a cooler and make a day of it.

insptech is right, The water taxi is a must. We got on at the main station and went in one direction and stopped at Shooters for lunch and took it the other direction the next evening. Plenty of places to stop for shopping and great food. I think it stops running around midnight.

Thanks again for all your help I had heard of the water taxi and thought it would be a great way to see the area from the water. Apreciate all the good ideas.

P.S is there a bunch of different companies providing the taxies or is it basically all the same one.

There is a cabana bar at the Marriot across from Pier 66 that has decent food, good drinks, and a lot of boats to look at. The water taxi stops there also.

He also told me that when he goes down to the marina where he keeps his boat (60 ft. Viking), he has to put the top up and make sure the doors are locked because people will steal whatever is in the car.

Don't have to do that by me... You can leave the top down and doors open... Hell you can probably leave the keys in the ignition. :D

By the way, when I went there I loved it! I had an excellent time at the Hot Bod Contest, they let our crew be judges... Will have to get the pic and post when I have time.

The night life in Las Olas was pretty fun too!

I`m glad that you live in a place where you can still do that. It used to be that way here once as well.

Where does he keep his boat? I know that there was a marina in Dania, called Newtown Marina I think, where they had a problem with monkeys. Now I know that your thinking the same thing I did when I first heard of it but these are real monkeys. It seem there was some sort of zoo there several years back and a storm (hurricane?) went through and tore it up pretty good allowing the monkeys to escape and now there is a breeding population in the area. These little guys seem to cause quite a bit of trouble stealing food, shinney objects and generaly causing trouble.
Maybe that would account for the thievery.

I`m glad that you had a good time down there. I know that I always do. It`s good to get out of here for a few days in the winter and just sit at a table by the water and have a couple of drinks......AND WATCH THE HOT BOD CONTEST!!!!! :D
