That was an incredible story, I used it today to combat some liberal bull chit. Someone was biotching that the pres was not doing anything for those people, I printed the story , handed it to them and said this is why!

Are you sure it was the truth? It seemed to me that it was writen by the same guy that started the "Charlie came to my house" thread last summer. I may be wrong about this,but Dhlaw did say it wasn't about him.
Then look where it ended up. A lot the comments sounded raceist to me.

Let me make this clear.... this is from a buddy I ride bikes with who works on a FEMA crew and was called into action. It is real, it is true and it is not intended to create a racism debate.

"Three days of hell was what it was. Temps in the high 90's with high humidity. All great intentions where immediately meet with hostility. First day traveling from Baton Rouge to Gulf Port was hard. We where stopped numerous times by people blocking the road and demanding to be brought out of the area. Or asking for food or water. A few rocks where thrown at the convoy in certain areas. The sound of rocks hitting the van just made my dog pissed and the people inside uneasy.

The dead where ramped the people just trying to get to dry areas sat like rats after a storm drain flood on anything they could keep dry on. The roads where real bad and we had to boat it then get picked up by others. What made this an unattainable task was COMMUNICATION. Getting in touch with others without satellite phones where impossible. Seen so much looting that you didn't even take notice after a while. Even if you wanted to you could do nothing about it. There where that many looters. We came across an apartment building for assisted living adults that had a fire on the upper floors and had to evacuate them. We then had no way of transporting those people. Had to leave them there on the street. Night fall came and the constant shoots where heard. Some far away Some close. Bravous is trained to turn on to gun fire so it was a sleepless night. We slept outside the trucks to protect ourselves from anything that may have come out of the darkness.

My team was made out of three suburbans, and two 12 pass. vans. We had three sheriffs with small arms and one M-16 for protection. This was not enough for what the nigh had. Fires where seen all over the area at night. Sunrise could not come to early for us. we reported the going ons back to IC and was told it was all isolated incidents. Yeah right. We where in the field they where back in a nice safe area.

Day two we got into gulf port and the devastation was beyond belief we assisted helio evacs of people and tried to assist any trapped people we came across. I came across an old white man in a second floor room in a house that had diabetes. He was bed ridden. He flipped a little when Bravous went into room when we where checking the house. He threw his bed pan filled with piss at Bravous. Great now I poured my water ration on him and cleaned him with some saline solution. I had to carry the guy down the stairs. He had **** in his pajamas. He cried when they cleaned him up and thanks us and apologized for getting scared when he seen Bravous. He said he though Bravous was a wild dog and came to feed on him. The Coast Guard fly boys picked him up.

We continued on checking debris and houses for trapped people. All the time people asking us for supplies. information we had no answers to. Everyone wanting help. But help they could do themselves. We where there for the ones that can't help themselves. The trapped, sick, or medical attention people. The people that had no physical problems where told to make it out and head north where trucks with supplies could not get in do the flooding. Got back to the trucks just before sunset. AND FOUND MY PERSONAL DOG BAG MISSING. *****es stole Bravous' supplies and his my personal ****. Lost $1400 bucks in that bag INCLUDING MY CAMERA. Now I have a problem no food for the dog. His water supply his hygiene and medical supplies are gone. This pissed me the **** off and started looking at these people in a whole new light.

That night we had more of the same ****. People coming out of the darkness looking for food and water. I was giving Bravous my food and water so I had nothing to offer. One ****ing prick saw me feed Bravous a can of tuna fish and said that animals don't eat before people. I said you want it you take it form him. Just then some gun fire went off real close by. It was DARK. Didn't know who shot or at what. I tackled the guy and Bravous came in for the bite but he was tied up and could reach the guy. One of the Chris one of the sheriff officers came and pulled the guy up and separated us. He was pissed but I didn't know if he was armed and was acting irrational enough to warrant his take down. The sheriff patted him down and sent his on his way as Bravous kept drooling for the bite.

Now it is on. About four something AM Bravous lets out a grumble as I lay slightly asleep against the van wheel. Several black guys two with shot guns the rest had side arms came out of the darkness. The Sheriff gave then some water and toilet paper. They asked what food we had and took three jars of peanut butter. And walked off in the darkness. The sheriffs later said we are not going to get into a fire fight that we could not win. Day light came and they decided things are way out of hand and we report back. On the way back we meet up with four Nation guards in a six wheeler. They said they are going to escort us out. We came across this town that had cars blocking the road. I was in the fourth vehicle looking out at why we stopped. Two of the Guards men got out to move the unoccupied vehicles. No keys so the six wheeler moved them. As we where pulling away shots hit the six wheeler the second vehicle and the last vehicle. Two of the guards men returned fire shooting high in the air as we floored it out of there.


**** THESE PEOPLE. I am sitting here unarmed nothing to do but lay low. We are in FEMA marked vehicles and these ****s are shooting at us. I want to drive but they won't let me. If I was driving I would run most of the ****s in the street down. I am so pissed at the people down there that I hope they all ****ing die.

One thing about other disasters I have seen is that people cam together and helped each other. There where isolated acts of kindness but on the most part what I seen was something out of a war scene. Not sure if this si a southern Black thing but I will not go back and help them. As far as I am concerned let the floating corpse feed these ****s. Let then drink the disease stagnate water and die a slow death.

Those where not people those where something subhuman form the bellows of the earth. Someone wrote on another thread that these people are Suppressed. Yeah I would suppress them with motor fire. I hope our state guys fire on these ****s and **** them into the swamps where the alligators can eat their asses.

It is going to take me some time to forget what asses those people where. They ****ed me and I owe them one.

Why would int not seem right coming from me??? You think I am some bleeding heart lib because I am an attorney.... well those assumptions are no more valid than assuming all blacks are criminals. Come opn guys, having different political views doesnt mean that I think that some of the actions of the NO residents are appropriate.

If this thread even begins to turn into a racist rant I will ditch my posts. Steve doesnt want us or his forum to appear like a bunch of biggots.

For starters, turn off your phones, your power and your water, put the food from your refrigerator in coolers and take the screens off your windows. Pretend ALL the stores and gas stations are closed and your place of business has disappeared, then go sh it behind the bushes in your yard for three or four days and come back and tell us how you feel. :mad:

Payton, I apologize-- I guess I misunderstood your post and overreacted. Watching the events of this past week has brought back a lot of bad memories and to say I've been out of sorts would be an understatement.

As far as this thread goes, I would only add that it really is impossible to imagine what it is like to go thru something like this. Nothing is normal anymore and even sane people start doing crazy things. People who are predisposed to lawlessness use the circumstances to bring their actions out into the open.

I think that this guy isn't the only one feeling this way.. here is a first hand story I read from the corvette forum

Well last night I was watching the 6pm news when they announced the 17th street canal pumps failed as well as another break in the levee. My house is right off St. Charles Ave. and up to 6pm yesterday is was the only part of the city that was dry. Since the pumps failed and the new break St. Charles Ave. would be under 9ft of water in the next 12-15hrs. My brother and I felt if we wanted to save anything we had to leave NOW. We loaded up flashlights, rope, our medical ID's, both our .45 Glocks, 2 shotguns and rode out. En-route we listened to the radio which broad casted all the news about the looters and what not, in hindsight it was a mistake. My mother didn't want us to go by dad who is a Vietnam vet told to be safe and "shoot to kill" if it ever comes to that.

One the way we had to pass 5-6 checkpoints to allow entry into the city. We stated we were medical personnel who were activated, showed our ID and off we went. On the radio reports were coming in about the officer who was shot in the head, the 2 gunman who opened fired on the NOPD station, and how looters were carjacking cars to get out of the city. This started making my brother nervous and giving seconds thoughts.

Anyway we get to the city and it looks like a freaking war zone. The best visual I can give is the movie "Blackhawk Down" when all the Somalians are rushing the city. They are people EVERYWHERE, they are pissed off, and all have weapons, 2X4's, Axes, and guns. If this wasn't bad enough we are 2 white boys in a truck in a sea several hundred armed pissed off blacks. There wasn't a white person to be found. I couldn't get over the little 8-10yr old kids with weapons, I ever saw one carry a claw hammer!

These people were absolutely nuts rammed trucks(stolen I'm sure) in to jewelry stores stealing items, they were tearing apart Wal-Mart carrying out TV's, Playstations, DVD players, etc. One lady was wheeling out an entire rack of merchandise, not sure what it was but sure wasn't clothes for food. They were all laughing and carrying on like it's freaking Christmas.

We got stuck in traffic when we see the group of guys walking down the street w/ AK-47's, at that point the "pucker factor" kicked in, a couple Glocks and shotguns were no match for that. We haul azz trying to get to Uptown when we see these people chopping down the front door w/ an axe of this $4-5 million dollar mansion on ST. Charles Ave. I was just in total awe because it was so surreal. Making matters worse it's 11pm at night there is no electricity and you really can see anything or anyone until they are right up on you.

Our plan was to be in and out in 30min, this included putting his Harley on the trailer. It would have taken me 5-10min tops to get my stuff, all I wanted was my pictures from college, my clothes/shoes, and my computer tower. Well he got scared saying we are going to get jumped while putting the bike on the trailer. Keep in mind this is the only area in the city that is dry. So just like rats who move to higher ground these people were doing the same. Word must have gotten out that Uptown was dry so there started to be a large influx of people.

Needless to say he wanted to go home rather than take our chances. While it was the smart thing to do I was beyond infuriated w/ him because we made it this far. He just kept saying our lives aren't worth it. So we turned around, our next challenge was getting out of the city while not getting jacked. Reports came out that people were jumping in the back of truck holding the drivers at gunpoint. Traffic started to slow so I just nailed it got out as fast as I could.

Even though he was the voice of reason I'm still pissed. All I have is my life and the clothes on my back. I lost my house(which is now 9ft underwater) ALL my clothes, TV, computer, furniture, and photo albums and videos from childhood and college. What makes this worse is my brother owned the house and I was a tenant and I didn't have renters insurance, hindsight is 20/20.

I also hope everyone of the F*(king looters get Tetanus, E-Coli and F*(KING drown. I'm serious I really hope the all die for what they were doing to the city, killing people, and destroying homes. Never in my life have I ever seen people act live savages, it was truly sicking.

Damn! You just described our situation to a tee, last week, here in Ft. Lauderdale! Things did start to get better after the fourth or fifth day. Most street lights(but not all) are back working, Most gas stations(but not all) are back up & running, power is 90% restored, our water was gone, due to one of many large ficus trees that went down & ripped out the main water supply line with it, most stores are finally open(but not all),etc., etc...This took the last two weeks to recooperate from. The situation in New Orleans was a bit different, but I can understand what happened, given the type of envirement & social science there. :crazy:

WELL......I cannot understand the behavior in NO. In Fl I have friends and relatives and heard nothing about looting, rapes, shootings, beatings, blatant attacks on police, fire, rescue, FEMA, local aid teams with their own boats, food supply helicopters being shot at etc. etc. etc. You are either a human being or an animal. In this case you decide. If this went on in Fl let us know. I highly doubt it. Life is pretty basic.There is right and wrong / good and evil. Each one of us decides the path to take and the choices to make. There is NO excuse for this behavior..... PERIOD

I've been there before, I've lost everything in a hurricane, I've come home to a place filled with water and ate beenie weenies from the red cross. And all I can say is it makes me F*cking sick...the only pleasure is knowing these ungreatfull peices of sh*t will rot in hell for what they are doing, I only hope someone arranges the meeting sooner rather than later for them.

If you havent lived it, you dont know jack...

After Andrew the same dregs of the earth were out terrorizing and looting. It took four or five days before the National Gaurd was able to get here and put things in order...

My heart bleeds for the good people of NO and the other affected areas. (Keep in mind we are seeing NO the most because that is where the news crews were sent, and are stuck there now.) The rest of em need a well placed shot to the forehead, then let the mighty Mississippi cary them away....

If they reported the good, more people would behave and be calm during the situation.... Instead, all the trapped and evacuated have been listing to the news reports and the dumb ass reporters....

I understand reporting the bad.... but be equal and tell about the good things that are happening.... Like whole communities coming together helping evacuate people... Like the people who offered food to neighbors who were hungry.... Like the woman who opened her house up to 16 neighbors who's houses were destroyed....

Yes the media does play that stuff up....I am seeing a bit more balance now of the good stuff. Although people do thrive on bad crap they can only take so much of before they either change the channel or shut off the TV. I also agree we need to take this country back and stop all this Foreign Aid to countries that hate us, make fun of us, attack us and give nothing in return. WE NEED TO HELP OUR OWN PEOPLE------AMERICANS----OUR OWN INFRASTRUCTURE----AND BUILD A STATE OF THE ART SECURITY SYSTEM TO PROTECT OUR SOIL------ IF ANYONE DARES TO BREACH OUR SHORES AND GO AFTER US------F'n SMASH TO BITS AND OWN THEIR RESOURCES AND LAND.
