I have to agree. Fords are crap. I've had a 93 Lincoln mark 8 and it hit 75K and fell apart. I've had 6 company Ford trucks they all were great till 70-75k and they fell apart. I towed my 29 Outlaw 40 miles on a 31k mile Super Duty and the tranny went to crap. My wife had a t-bird in college and it was a piece of s*it after it turned 100k.
Now my work truck now is a 94 1/2 suburban with 151k on it, orig. motor, tranny, rear end. 0 problems. I even towed my 29 outlaw to Tablerock from Wichita (280) miles with no problems. Yea 6500 lb tow capacity and a 9500 lb boat behind a 1/2 ton truck. Not smart but it got the job done, reliabily.
You simply can't beat a GM product for reliability.

On a serious note, one of the biggest reasons is size, specifically width. The OHC engines are much wider than an equivalent OHV - check out this pic of a 4.6 Ford vs an old 302. It might work for a single, but how big is the market for alternative power for single engine boats if you can't use the same mill for twins?
