Re: Formula 292 VS Donzi 28 ZX
I think both manufactures are great and it comes down to personal preference. Not sure what kind of seas you run in, but did you consider going up to the next size boat from either of these manufacturers or others? We went through a lot of boats when we were moving out of our 26' and getting to the low 30' range seemed to offer so much more boat for the money. Best of luck to you in your search!!!!

Re: Formula 292 VS Donzi 28 ZX
went through the same thing and ended up buying a MINT 29 wellcraft scarab. after running in all three boats my decision was a no brainer. my scarab had twin 350 mags, bravos, great on fuel, handled and rode fantasic. just my .02 good luck in your decision

We water test every Formula we sell and make notes on performance.292's with 350 Mags generally run 69-70mph.

Re: Formula 292 VS Donzi 28 ZX
Had the opportunity to drive the Donzi 28 w/twin small blocks. I was not impressed at all with the ride and handling. The cockpit layout is pretty tight, as the boat is only actually 27' + change, including the swim platform. the cabin is also pretty bare bones. Fit-finish-rigging were fine.
I haven't driven the Formula 292. But, I previously owned a Formula. Simply built like a tank. They are not the fastest on the water, but a Mercedes style ride and build quality. |

I personally like Formula's build quality and creature comforts better. |
