Default Formula 292 VS Donzi 28 ZX

If you had the opportunity to purchase either a new 2005 leftover Formula 292 or a new 2005 leftover Donzi 28 ZX, both with the same twin SBC power, very similar options and at virtually the same price, which would you choose and why? Top end, quality of construction, pride of ownership, general feel of boat, etc. Thanks for your comments

I had the exact same question a couple years ago at the Miami Show. I was just about to pull the trigger on a new 292, when I found the used boat I have. I think the 292 is just a better fitted boat.

I may be biased because I am a Donzi dealer, But before I sold boats I was in the market Formula is a great boat fit and finish superb, But the boat didn't do anything for me as far as performance with twin 350s ran about 65mph and I didn't like the Windshield reminds me of a sportboat not a Offshore Performance boat. The 28 ZX twin 350s runs 70mph not as plush inside the cabin but the boat has the Offshore Performance look. Oh by the way when it came down to buying one my wife would only agree on one engine so I went with the 26ZX they were only $7000 apart from each other but she liked the graphics on the 26.

Both are great boats in my opinion. If it were me I would buy the Donzi solely because of looks.

Robert, are you still carrying the Donzi line? Last time I checked your website, I didn't see any new Donzis.

A friend just looked at a new 28 Donzi and was not impressed. He was pretty set on buying a Donzi before he looked at the boat, but changed his mind. He said the bigger Donzi's he had looked at were nice but the 28 was not impressive at all.

Both are nice, but the windshield on the Formula is a bit of a turnoff.
