My engines value
What would my 454/425Hp engines be worth if I sold them as complete takeouts. They run great, New mallory breakerless distributors,Holley 800 double pumpers, good oil pressure 60lbs at 2500RPM, 140 deg temps, actual hours unknown, but I was told they have around 200-250 hours on them. One is a crate 425HP from merc, the other was a 400 cyclone rebuilt to 425 specs. They are genIV engines. Im thinking of selling them to go to some 496 EFI motors in my 40ft Excalibur. Thanks

Thats what i was thinking. I have seen the 365Hp and 330Hp models going for 3500 to 5000 complete takeouts, and the 502MPI going for 7500 to 9000. If someone wanted to offer me 5k each, Id probably take it, and install a fresh gasket set, new valve springs, Thermostats, and new impellers. Actually, I replaced one impeller yesterday. I would also strip and repaint them black, merc blue, red, orange, or whatever color the buyer wants.

The exhact hours are not known, but I know they are not over 300. I would prior to purchase, install new valve springs, gaskets, thermostats, and do a full leakdown and compression check on the engines
