AMF will still have representation in Deerfield with Kean and Nesquick, but we can only run the turbine boat in OPA and we aren't going to pass up that opportunity. Both events will be great

To bad it's the same date as the Sarasota poker run. :( I have a 46 skater thats been out to pasture to long. A one off race would be a lot of fun!! Keep us informed if you do this again!! :D

Re: Wanna be a racer?

I ran with you in the first Sarasota poker run I think, we were in Warbird
in that nasty Gulf water. Judging from what I saw you and your boat need to be on the racecourse, you run it like you race it anyhow.
There will always be another Poker Run, this may not happen again

WARNING

Before you race in the Delaware River, you should talk to people who boat in that river.

The water smells like sh*t!

The city of Camden is a Ghetto. If it's not nailed down, it will disappear.

Floating debris is an understatement! More like Parts of houses, sheds, pallets. telephone poles, whole oak trees, and the occasional dead body!

This is no place for a Skater! Go to the Sarasota run and enjoy paradise.

Re: Wanna be a racer?

I boat in the river all the time. Its not that bad. The floating debris were because of storm that cause a very high tide. That pulled all the logs and stuff from the banks. If it always smelled that bad and has that much stuff floating in it nobody would boat there. I can tell you on Sundays in the summer floating trees are not the problem. Dodging power boats are the norm.

Camden is a Getto I will give you that. But its Waterfront is not that bad at all. They are trying to rebuild that area. And this race is a step in the right direction. The pits are all gated so there should be no problem. And its nice around the water front.

I will also give you the Delaware river its no paradise. I dont go to the races to see palm trees. Its a place for us to see some great powerboat racing! For many this is their first taste of off-shore racing. Racing in Philadephia has to be a plus for the sport. We dont see any kind of boat racing at all around here. We have plenty of speed freaks around these parts dying for this kind of event to happen here. Please dont kill the vibe.

The locals around here are all looking forward to this race!!!! I want to say thank you to all the guys that are coming out to race in the River!!! See you soon.

Welcome to the 2005 AMF Offshore
- Dash for Cash -
Hosted by Camden, NJ

Hello Race Fans,

There aren’t many new things on the Offshore Racing scene these days so when something or someone completely out of the ordinary pops up, ya just have to stand up and take notice.

The OPA race in Camden NJ is scheduled for October 8th and 9th, and until yesterday, it had no purse and was in jeopardy of possible cancellation. Enter John Haggin and AMF Offshore Racing. This is John’s first year on the offshore circuit and he has already made a lasting impression on all the racers, especially the Performance Class racers. Haggin (as he prefers to be called) has taken it upon himself to become the champion of the P Class racers, the little guys that needs some help from time to time just getting to the next race. Haggin and OPA have really shown their generosity this time and all they ask for in return is that you join them in Camden, have some fun and enjoy a great race.

So here’s the deal:

NO REGISTRATION FEES
NO EQUIPMENT FEES
NO ENTRY FEES
A $26,000 PURSE
1st Place - $2500
2nd Place - $1250
3rd Place - $750
4th Place - $500
5th Place - $200

Re: Wanna be a racer?

Addiction,

That has never seem to stop the 100 plus boats that show up for the NY Hudson River Poker Run every year.

As I recall, SBI runs a race every year in the Hudson too! Nothing stops them.

The Hudson has it's fair share of debris too, but never seems to keep people from racing.

Yes! Last year's storm surge pulled everything off the banks, and probably made it the worst ever. But the OPA was still able to put on a race without sinking any boats!

There was a great deal of help out there helping with keeping the course cleared. And it was a success.

This year it should be even better!

I was in a Poker Run back in 2001 on the Delaware River and didn't see many issues with debris at that time...
A few things maybe, but nothing that would keep me from boating there....

Why would you try to put a Buzz kill on a free race, with prize money? The Camden waterfront is a very nice area and you don't even know your next to the hood. The debris was from the storms last year. The pits are secure. Viewing is great from the Battleship, Philly and many cool bars are across the river. I have no idea who you are but to try and say something negative about a ONCE in a lifetime opportunity(A legitimate chance to walk away from a race with money in your pocket) You are a DOUCHE BAG!

I heard you and Smitty had a good run in NY a couple years ago until the duct tape let go.

Sounds like where he goes, you go. P3 has an average lap speed of 85. P2 has an average lap speed of 95.

Don't blow your chit up this weekend! Lets Race!
