Deep Creek Lake restricts boats to less than 25' length (unless you get a waiver which I optained for my 26' Sonic). Pontoons are allowed to be 30' long.

Hey Shawn,
I know what it is. You have to do 10 weekends of community service...which in this case is piloting one of the trash skimmer boats around the harbor. The good news is that the City DPW pays for the gas. The bad news is that you have to wash the boat after your shift. (They do give you bright orange coveralls to wear...all you need is a helmet and impact jacket and pretend you're racing). Good Luck!!!

Re: banned boats in PA, MD

John, last weekend my passengers said they would split the fine if we ran at speed to the lift, but I don't think they would do my trash boat duty. I think its better to blast out of the harbor on the last run of the year, maybe the marine police would forget who it was by spring.
Only a thought, not necessarily a good one.

I think your idea is better, head for open water. One thing is for sure...they're not going to chase you. Just the thought of going to the Key Bridge gets them nervous. If you want to play really smart put Tomcat decals on the side...then Jim and Jean will have to deal with it next spring. Bring her around to Frog Mortar and we'll pull her up at the Duck.

I live in PA., have a sonic 31ss and haven't heard anything about certain types of boats being banned anywhere. There are speed restrictions, drinking restrictions on the state owned lakes, other than that, it's fair game....

Good Luck in your efforts,

Re: banned boats in PA, MD

it's just BS being brought up by our "lake task force" that they are saying there are bans of perf boats in both states, they are just looking for a glimmer of hope of throwing us off the lake, but it looks like someone gave them some bad info
only thing i have found is crooked creek.

Will, there's Lake Chesdin here near Petersburg that has a 45mph speed limit. But it's a small lake, so not many perf boats hang out there.

And why in the hell would you ever want to boat at Crooked Creek...it's a pond
As I said at the other place........there are horsepower restrictions....not banned boats or type there of
As the guy said Deep Creek.....but I see larger boats there are the time....and they do not meet the grandfather clause
