Looks a little waterlogged...but doesn't seem like a bad deal. There would be a lot of cosmetic repairs, check out the picture of the control panel.

Looks like it flipped and sunk. I never even heard of the accident. I saw that boat for sale on the Fastboats.com website for a long time. I think it will be a bunch of cash to make it nice again........

Your right Brent.

Could it be the one that flipped in the Carolinas or Virginia last year and killed the new owner?

No hull damage, just the engine hatch ripped off and the boat tweaked hard enough to snap the seat base in two...

that boat sank right here in good ole new yawk...from what i heard a guy with a big checkbook and no step bottom boat driving experience bought it and barrel rolled it on the first or second time he used it....the accident happened like 2 and a half months ago...supposedly there were a few substantial injuries...that boat has to run in the mid to high 90s with that setup..i havent heard anything lately but i am sure the boat is a mess by now since its been sittin soo long...

whoops, the secret is out. Did you see it in person before the purchase?

At that price I would buy it sight unseen also..... you cound sink $40k and still be in it right.

Re: 2002 Top Gun on Ebay ouch!!!!!!!

When you buy a boat like that, does it get a salvage title, or someother notation that it was a total loss?

Actually it probably doesn't which sort of sux. Not trying to rain on someone's profit parade, but a friend bought a boat that had sunk / "supposed" restored, but that wasn't disclosed during the purchase. He found out after a bunch of electrical screwups and other strange failures because the boat hadn't been completely gutted to the bare hull and done over.

I was thinking the same thing. Be a good winter project, but you'd be money ahead in the long run on a twin step Gun. :drink: :evilb: :D

Take quite a bit more than $40k for the boat to be right.
Project like this could bite you in the azz.

The title is clean. We spoke to the documentation company. today when my partner gave them the check. My partner is going to fly to look at the boat tomorrow. We had someone at the boat this afternoon. There is no structural damage. Other then the hatch missingvery limited damage, no cracks or stress cracks anywhere. The gimbals which are the first to go in a bad roll over are perfect so it couldn't have been too violent of an accident . We spoke to the guys that pickeled the motors and drives and the motors ran before they were pickeled. The interior is supposed to be near perfect, just dirty. I'm sure it's going to have to be completely rewired. It comes with a brand new Myco trailer. Nobody was hurt in the accident and there were no lawsuites or issues. The swim platform was bent while trying to lift the boat out of the water. The only thing I regret about the whole deal it "It's a V bottom"!!

what coould have caused it to just roll over like that? ive seen a lot of rolled boats in the last year or so and this cig is the only one that wasn't all broken up. lot to be said for cigs construction!

They said it was a 60 MPH roll over. I don't see how that is possible. I don't think I could flip my boat at 60 if I wanted to.

Thank you for the pictures. Looks like it was a nice boat. I'm not going to keep it. My partner put the money up to buy it, so we could fix it and resell it. I'm sure when it all over I will probably end up loosing money like I do in every boat deal!

As this does seem to be a decent deal on the outside, keep in mind that when a heavy boat like this flips over at speed it stresses all the supports, shatters and weakens the fiberglass where you can't see it .Hull's are not designed to support shock and weight in that direction.
You will loose at least 5 mph ever time and will also need a professional to completely re- work the hull.
Call Tres Martin and ask him what his Gladiator needed after a 50mph roll over. Good Luck!
