Try changing the shafts in the stellings box to IMCO shafts and imco 2" shorty lowers.
I also have a 37' OL. The motors are approx 750hp and run bone stock Bravos with no ext box's.
The only break I've had was breaking the clutch floor out of one of the gears. But then again we were in the ocean in rough seas.
