Well, I guess we will play it by ear. I am glad no one was hurt but I am very sad to see such a beautiful place look so sad. EricG, I hope the best for you and your bride. I KNOW what she is going through right now. We are staying at the Reach but having the wedding on Smather's Beach...I hope.

I just spoke to someone at Crabby Bills, he said everyone is in clean up mode and they are planning on being open for business. They have phone service, he said a lot of people in KW have phone service and power is spotty. He said the mayor officially cancelled fantasy fest :( but he thinks people will still come.

Re: Florida Key's under water ?????

I just spoke with the B&B where we are staying and they have no damage and no power, but phones. Once again she is worried about the lost revenue from Fantasy Fest. She said she couldn't imagine that the races would not go on, that the city will do eveything they can since they are losing 5 million a day in revenue. She said not only are they losing money now but because they closed the city down a week ago that hurt as well.

So Carrie, it seems like they are in clean up mode,so don't loose hope. Things will probably not be the same especially piers and docks but I am sure if the beach does not work out, somewhere nice down there will. Heck there is always Crabby Bills :drink:

I can guarantee the plans for the race will go on. I will know more when I get home tomorrow or thurs.
I think they are cleaning up personal property and trying to dry out while waiting for the extensive electrical work to get done throughout the city. All they need is the power back and things will carry on.
Communication is very spotty right now, but I would suggest in a day or so to call your individual hotels to see what their status is.
If I have power in Marathon, I will let you know more as I hear it. Think positive...........we are!

According to the folks at Wyndham (national), the Reach doesn't have any serious damage, just limited phone and utilities. They expect to be back up and operating at 100% on November 1st! I haven't heard if they have a pier or not...but then again, the way I figure it - if there is no pier, I guess I won't have to pay the florist to decorate it :D

More great news!!!
The way I see it EricG, it is all about you and your woman, who cares if the peir is gone, that is what I come to terms with. I may not have the beach I wanted but at least we will be there with all our friends having a good time. I hope the peir is okay through, it looked sturdy and it was so beautiful. Good luck!

The surge stopped 1 block from the house we have rented. Way too close. Sounds like things should be back together by race week. :evilb: :evilb:

looks like things will work out to be able to do the Sebago, they might not be the "official" turnboat but they will be very near the turn inside the harbor. As soon as I have the details I will PM you and then post something

I have a house right behind the airport right on the water. Minimal water damage. However, one street over, my old house that is not on the water but on a canal got flooded about 3 feet. It's very weird. I had alot of wind damage but not much flood damage. Wierd.

Anyone interested in the Reach Resort, I just got ahold of them a few minutes ago. The resort opened yesterday and is operating normally. The Gazebo sustained some damage, but is under construction and should be fixed soon (hopefully within 10 days :D ).

Not sure about rooms...but it may be worth calling...

No Capo, that is water in the street, not very deep, when I was watching the web cam a man walked by the camera it looked to be up to his ankles???? Not very high but if he was on the sidewalk add 8" to the depth of that.....

Looking at the other cams it looks like they had rain, I wonder if the storm drains are just clogged right there on Duval? None of the other cams show any kind of high water????
