Re: New Merc 700 package

From what I was told the #5 ssm and the #3a ssm drives are now out of production. Mercury should fill the gap between the bravo and #6.

There is a new Merc hi po drive, it is in one of the boating mags. Has a tranny built into the "extension box. Think it handles up to 1,000 horses, but since I can't afford it, I did not pay much attention to it.

Re: New Merc 700 package

The people I have spoken with told me the 600 engine is the detuned version of the 700/725/750 or what ever it turns out to be. The motor is currently being dyno tested and should be completed in 30 days. Mercury hopes everything goes well and they can introduce the package at Miami. This will include a new drive package in between the Bravo and #6 it should have a transmission in the extension box. Again if everything goes smoothly it will happen, but if problems arise it could be delayed or scrapped all together. As I find more I will post

The Verado currently has two issues Merc is working on, first is try to get the cowling off without coaching, its taking people 30-45 mins!!!! Just to get th cowl off, second is a salt water issue and the electrical system on the 2 lowest cylinder, They are trying to get the cowl to seal better.

This is what I have also heard...just didn't want to be the only one with the post of the 600's death.

Another reason to raise the price since Ilmor is hurting that engine in sales.
