FT. Lauderdale Boat show---check in please....

Question is, will anyone else?

I feel the same way. I have a hard time going there to see a boat show when people who live there are trying to get food, water, gas, and have no electricity. The news hasn't been covering much on the aftermath, so if you don't live in the area, you don't know what it's really like there right now. Conditions are alot worse than we think, from talking to some of the OSO'ers who live there. Show Management just wants the show to go on because they don't want to refund the money from all the vendors.Originally Posted by salesmanship
Show Management just called and gave us our move in time of Sunday at 11:00 am. I am really torn about this. We depend alot on this show and I'd hate to miss it on the off chance somebody might actually show up and buy something. However there is a time and place for everyhting. With what's happened I don't think it's a good idea to continue but if it's open and it looks like it will be, I'll be there.Question is, will anyone else?

I heard the hotels are full with people that are missing homes.
But.....if you have a reservation they have to move out....
Who would want to put people on the streets just to be at a boat show???
I certainly will not!!

Definately a good point. I am NOT going to be going. I am looking forward to the Miami show next year Originally Posted by wcmarine

I am one of the people waiting in line for gas, but I will be there. You have got to have your priorities

You do have a point. I was actually going to the show to meet some of the OEM's and dealers at the show. I am a regional manager for Zoomers Marine. I put their mufflers on my boat--they look great and work even better!! I was going there for business purposes...and to see the show. The news actually doesn't tell you much at all about what it's like in Southern Florida. I have to get my info from people here on OSO.

Please don't act hastily. We are getting thing going here. They tell us we will not have power at my house for a while, but we were right in the Eye of the storm.
Most of you with reservations can wait til 48 hrs before to cancel. Please don't just give up on this town. It's a 2 way street, they played football this weekend to give the community something to do. I think the city needs the distraction, the $$ and the idea that life will go on.
I WILL be there to support the industry, even if I have to take a COLD shower and ride a scooter to get there. I would not miss the OL party for anything......

See you there. I don't see how boycotting the show helps the city. I plan to go down and pump plenty of cash into the local bars AND boat show. Originally Posted by CASH BAR
