What's with people deleting posts???

It seems that there is a trend going on of people deleting their posts. How about everyone thinking before they post and leaving them there. :eureka:

.....and just to be clear, I'm not talking about deleting an entire thread.

...Just my humble .02

It's those late night posts when well-pickeled, that you come back to read the next morning and go oh-chit!!!! and then delete hopefully before anyone else sees it.... :p

Of course it does make one tantalizingly curious as what was posted and want to know the juicy reasons why it was poofed...

I think that, if a person has a history of deleting posts, he should have a ''breathalizer'' hooked up to his computer before he is alowed back on the board to see if that helps to aleviate the problem..... :D

I see now we lost a lot of ads in the advertisers section within the last hr.

It seems the board has hit an all time low this last couple of days.

Its always the same old deal. Someone shoots off their mouth beause they have been drinking, or they feel abusive orjealous or they think they know something and then they either get called on it or rethink what they typed and rush to deletete it, hoping to limit the fallout. If those people would only put their brains in gear before their mouths, or fingers as the case may be, there would be alot fewer "post deleted by" 's on this site.

That's what I'm talking about. Not the fat Scotty stuff or the "water rage" stuff. All of that started after I started this thread. What bothers me is when someone posts something and then deletes it a few hours or days later. If nobody quotes them and what they posted affects the path of the thread...sometimes innocent people are made to look bad.

like I said in the first post, Think before you post!!!!!!

I could be wrong but I think scotty and maybe stingray who ASKED to be cancelled was the only one that was ban, trick deleted his own posts, hence the deleted by trick

Re: What's with people deleting posts???

It appears that there has been an increase in "negativity" in OSO over the last four/five months. I'm not talking about the good natured "bantering" that goes on, I'm talking about people just being flat out disrespectful towards others for offering a different take, perspective, or opinion.

I have to plead guilty on occasion because there is one "member" here who just drives me up a wall. However, the other 99.99 % of the time I will always defend someone's right to disagree with me.

I've seen a lot of occasions recently that, for lack of a better phrase, just shows no manners (as my Father would have said) at all. Way too much of who got the biggest "richard" going on. I know that I'm not the only one who has noticed it. I'm not accusing anybody of anything, I just let the posts speak for themselves.

I've had conversations with some longtime members here who are getting really fed up with the direction OSO is going. What always set OSO not just apart, but above, the other Forums seems to be disappearing.

Speaking for myself, I'm going to avoid the he said, he said, type Threads and just stick with the ones that have some type of pertienent meaning.

I am not trying to offend anyone here, or make any accusations. I just know what I enjoy reading and what I don't particularly enjoy reading. Nobody died and left me in charge and different stokes for different folks.

As far as the original point of this thread, I think a lot of people are getting caught up "in the moment" and end up stating stupid things. I've done it on occasion and have gone back and deleted that particular post.

I think it would be a good idea for everyone to take a step back and try to visualize just what we want this Forum to be.

Right now a lot of it reminds me of a old time woman's beauty shop. (no offense meant to our female members)

Don't mean to piss anybody off.

I had an idea yesterday why a certain individual seems to delete his post all the time and it goes like this. If you are just a guy who is researching a company because you are wanting to do business with them, and you see that company acting in certain manors it may cause you to steer away from them. So to protect try to protect yourself you would delete your post. It does not help your case when people quote you though, unless the tread gets removed. A good way to admit your in the wrong without actually having to admit it. Another reason..just say Joe Shmo off the streets wants to find out more about a certain company and he googles them...well he will be directed to threads where that name is mentioned good or bad, but unfortunatly bad ones do not exist anymore. Would make me sceptical, I don't know about Joe Shmo though? Like I said this one of the logical explinations I could come up with on some of them.

Stu is very outspoken on issues that occur on his runs. If he did not take action about the incident I would find it hard to believe that it was anything other than an accident. Hope no one was hurt!

Posting the video for everyone to view would certainly drive home the point of not discussing issues without having all the facts!

Yayy! I'm allowed back on. For the record I didn't delete anything. Apparently one of the Moderators were not happy with my post. For the time being I agreed to stop talking about the issue. There has been too much negativity on OSO. For now I'm going to look at this situation as another another normal day in my life. I will work on getting the boat repaired although the damage is extensive. It's true There are 2 sides to every story. If I did get Phil wet it was unintentional and if i was told I would have sincerely apologized. This was an unfortunate incident. Tomorrows the big day, Big Scotty is sending me my money back!!! I HOPE!
