i understand how it could be innacurate with the boat moving and all, but in airplanes they manage to have them very very accurate, far more accurate than cars.

It's called FLOSCAN. Works like a charm. Have them on both boats and very good. I use that before I would trust a gauge ever again.

I think it has to do with the pick up location not the gauges. I put new Livorsi gauge and float system in my Mistress and at 1/4 tank you better be close to a gas pump and my Top Gun is the same way. I wander if they keep the pick high to keep from picking up water or dirt that has settled to the bottom.

I think Smartcraft keeps track of fuel consumption plus a lot of other useful information. I don't count on my gas gauge. I watch my hour meter.

I installed the Livosi senders in my Black Thunder. 1/4 on the gauge = fillup. They do seem to be very accurate, or at least more accurate than the stock side float style. Joe Murray

I was doing a water delivery from Ft. Lauderdale to Hobe Sound once on a brand-new boat and ran the tanks dry when the gauges still read 1/4.
No radio had been installed yet, no cell phones back then either.

Thank God for good Samaritans! Was rescued BEFORE boat hit the rocks.
