Re: Man to face charges in alcohol-related boating accident
I don't have any balls....but....
In my youth, there were way too many "near" disasters that dealt with kids and drinking and loss of life. And, regrettably, I do remember several times where I was far too impaired to drive, but I did it anyway. :( The ignorance of youth. All it would have taken to be in his same shoes was to get unlucky just once. However, now that I'm a grown woman, we don't put any alcohol in our boat when we go boating. None. Coke Classic and water works just fine to quench thirsts on a hot day. Same with driving a car. One drink for the driver is the limit at our house. That includes parties and dining out. I feel sorry for everyone involved in this horrible situation. But that kid violated his drunk driving probation (that he got for this boating incident) by getting caught with marijuana! That shows he has not learned a lesson from this --- that means there is very little hope for him that he will become a productive member of society. :( |

And yes, unfortunately I am not a kid anymore. I do however think that all kids these days are not punks. This guy, on the other hand, does deserve to face some consequences. |

We are all guilty of making stupid mistakes and taking chances that we shouldnt have made. I know Ive made my share. Yeah, there are things that I wont do now that only 5 years ago I would have. I feel for both the families involved here. But, this kid did wrong and he should be held accountable. Nobody wins here.

Re: Man to face charges in alcohol-related boating accident
To clarify (from above), the kid violated probation stemming from a previous marijuana charge. This boating issue and drinking is what violated his probation, on top of the other charges.
So, he was on probation from a weed charge, so he goes out at 12 AM, drunk, and cruises the lake in a boat. At that age,l you might deserve a 2nd chance, I know I'm blessed t have had 2nd chances, but a 3rd that's even worse?? Smack that boy wiht the max. |

I am not defending kid either. He will and should do time. I have easier time accepting this then the drunken boat dealer that killed 2 folks last summer. You mean this drunken boat dealer? Remember he stated he only had a glass of wine with dinner that evening?...... Yea right! http://www.lawboat.com/news.asp?ID=396 |
