Bravo I upgrade question
I am going to soon be going thru and replacing the gears and bearings in my Bravo I (1988 drive that has never been worked on as far as I can find out) drive and was wondering if I can replace the gears with the new version Bravo XR gears with out any machining of my old drive? Or is there any difference in the replacement Bravo I drive and the new XR drive grears?
The reason for the rebuild is i am adding more horsepower. I am just trying to stay away from the expence of a new drive such as a max machine worx drive. Thanks in advance for you help! |
Re: Bravo I upgrade question
The lower case was re-designed after 1988. Sometime around '91. Better hydrodynamics and also a system to circulate the gearlube. If you are over 70 m.p.h. you may benefit from the newer syle lower case.

Re: Bravo I upgrade question
The XR gears will not fit the Bravo 1 drive at all. The housing is completey different.

Re: Bravo I upgrade question
There have been two upgrades to the gear sets since your drive was manufactured. A rebuild will automatically fix this situation.
