3. The speed of the current,
4. Your lattitude,
5. The airspeed velocity of an unladened swallow,
6. The circumference in centimeters of Pam Anderson's orginal boobs.
At that point, hire Carl Sagan to do the math and Voila! - an accurate reading of your speed.
And people say technology is so hard.

Dockrocker,
You also forgot to mention if it was cloudy or not. This can also directly effect the accuracy of the GPS unit.

Come on Nort!!! I looked the answer up for ya!!
1. Was it at the Bar or on the Boat that you were asking about .
2. Were ya in Cali or Loto!!
3. Was the question ask after 3 shots of yagers or before the First one.
4. and the number one question??? Were ya trying to Buy the Boat or Sell the Boat in this conversation ..
These are just some of the factors when reading your GPS unit..

First you need to know what the atmospheric pressure was that particular day. Then you must factor in the cubic centimeter displacement of the actual GPS antenna. Triangulate that figure into the relative speed and trajectory of the satellites your GPS was using at that milisecond.
Now, because I know this is pretty involved, I did all this FOR you, and I keep coming up with an actual speed of 85 MPH. So that's the answer.
