Default Open water?

We are in northern Michigan and are wrapping up our project boat next week. We would like to test run it and was wondering where the closest open water is (no ice). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Heath

The Gulf of Mexico is always a good bet.

We usually do our winter time testing in Lake Cumberland, but you have to watch out for the damned logs and garbage.

Loto! The lake does not freeze. Some people leave their boats in the water all year long. Ice forms in some of the coves.

Just bring it out here and then you can test it in some rough water also. there's been some 20' waves lately
