He is in the Cigar and Tobacco business with Frank Marchone. You can find him somewhere between NC and South Florida grinning from ear to ear.

Following the Sonic saga, I remember Jay Ross had a lot of business problems and unhappy customers for years before he was forced to give up Sonic to his creditors/new owner. He stayed on for a while in sales but did't have the "personality" for the job. He & his employer parted ways. CanDo

Jay Ross is an inovator. He was one of the first builders to use the "go-fast" cabin as a pallet for his creative vent. Since he got his start at the end of the van conversion phase with a company called JR custom trim, this made sense and gave him the expertise to do some really cool things with boats. While he has a "different" personality, that is to be expected by someone with a higher intellect and a superior vision. Its so easy to bash other people on this site...especially those who created this industry... Jay, being one of them... I'd like to see any of these bashers step away from thier keyboard... or x-box... or playstation and do what these fine men have done.

Jay was definitely one of the first to do what was needed and built a hell of a boat, but I can't see him joining forces with anybody. I am sure he is going to add some quality to the Thunder line, should be interesting.

Re: Jay Ross, Sonic Boats, Where Is He Now?

Jay spent enormous time and energy helping my fiberglass guy on the phone to do a rebuild of my boat. I did not buy the boat new or used from him, yet he was always ready to help a Sonic owner. Plus, the rest of the Sonic crew were really great to deal with on parts also. The delivered new fuel tanks within a couple of days so I could continue my Florida winter boating enjoyment.

It seems the new Sonic also has their act together, and Active Thunder has certainly got a huge asset in Jay.
