It was a Class 2 Trimaran that signed the Class 2 World Speed Record in 1976 at 78 mph.
it was the first mono-screw with "Step Drive" prototype.
The engine was a italian BPM "Vulcano" -400hp and the first boat(there was as much as two) was built in 1973.
The picture came from the "L'Avventura dell'Offshore" of Claudio Nobis, and show the version of 1976.
I have a complete story of it written by Soccol.

Just got to say that I have refrained from paying to see the pay-per-view section on this site until now. What an idiot! This thread alone with all the wonderful pictures is enough to justify it! To all of you out there - thanks for posting these fantastic pictures and sharing your stories! Keep 'em coming!

Sorry to have to correct, but the MSV was not related to the cobra. The MSV was a 27 deg boat. I ended up with the mold... It had too much deadrise... The cobra... as in Joel Halren's boat was a true Cobra...designed by Jean Claude Simone... designer of the Cigarette, Cobra, Sonic, Powerplay, Cary....etc.
