It was the "Arcidiavolo"(superdevil) a Levi's design built in Italy in wodden,by the Acqaviva of Bellaria and drove by Giorgio Tognelli and Antonio Soccol.
It was a Class 2 Trimaran that signed the Class 2 World Speed Record in 1976 at 78 mph.
it was the first mono-screw with "Step Drive" prototype.
The engine was a italian BPM "Vulcano" -400hp and the first boat(there was as much as two) was built in 1973.
The picture came from the "L'Avventura dell'Offshore" of Claudio Nobis,and show the version of 1976.
I have a complete story of it written by Soccol.

Where are the "OLD RACE BOATS" going to be displayed ?? Will any be there a day before the run so we can have a good look at them ??

My Brother Peter - has the NNRT library - am sure there are many photos of the red and white 38 Bertram Swap Shop - it also had hull delamanitaion problems - I will ask Peter if he still has any photos of Swap Shop for you - you can email me directly - [email protected]

Just got to say that I have refrained from paying to see the pay-per-view section on this site until now. What an idiot! This thread alone with all the wonderful pictures is enough to justify it! Sorry to have to correct, but the MSV was not related to the cobra. The MSV was a 27 deg boat. I ended up with the mold... It had too much deadrise... The cobra... as in Joel Halren's boat was a true Cobra...designed by Jean Claude Simone... designer of the Cigarette, Cobra, Sonic, Powerplay, Cary....etc.
