Sorry UT I didn't mean my comments directed to you. I was typing in general. Just gets deep in my stomach when a boat has a kill swithch and never used.
I agree with you totally on doing the research.
This is a good post to start learning about jackets.
Like I say I'm sorry for my misdirection of words and statements.

I own 4 Lifelines racing jackets. Be advised they are not Coast Guard approved. Certification is expensive. We wear them at all times in my boat. I have talked to the Coast Guard and they will not hassle you if wearing them but will not allow them to be counted as a PFD if not worn. They admire us for wearing the best and trying to be safe. I keep on board enough of the cheap $5.00 orange junk things to stay legal. Lifelines are FAR SUPERIOR to any (non-racing)jacket for impact. Every boat racer wears them. And there are a lot of pleasure boats going much faster than race boats! You will have a chance of surviving a crash with these jackets. I have the $60.00 jackets that have fallen apart water-skiing after a fall at 36 mph! I have to wonder if the HTM accident would have different results if they had them on. When debating the cost, ask yourself this... How much is your life worth?

Ok, I just read about the "combined" order for lifeline jackets. Well not to blow our own horn, but SRP makes a much better and more comfortable jacket. We @ SRP will offer our, Offshore Racing lifejacket SM-XL at $340 + shipping for a minimum of 15 jackets. We will include crotch straps and an upgrade to leg bands is available. We will also provide 1st name embroidered on the left front chest of the jackets. $20 extra if somebody requires over XL. If anybody is unsure of SRP reputation ask Gordon Jennings, Dave Villwock, or Jim Poplin (of STARS Rescue) or feel free to contact me or Al Lapointe who is the owner of Security Race Products.

I read my post and it appears as though I am selling Lifelines. I am selling the idea of any impact life jacket. Ben from SRP, thank you for the offer. As an additional side note, whenever people see us strapping up the jaws drop in awe. Be cool and safe

Mike, to really explain the differences or pros/cons of each jacket, I'd need to go over this on the phone or at least in much more detail, than I can post here. If you would like to call me and discuss this I'd be glad to go over this with you. We are making a "Poker Run" lighter weight jacket too, although it is still being finalized. Our lifejacket are available in other colors, APBA requires racer’s to have either orange or yellow this is why you see this color most of the time. Ballistic material does come in other color, but is not available is as many as say, cotton.
Call me and I'll go over this. 704-953-0700 or evenings: 704-948-4112 Ben
