Last I saw her she was sitting along the side of the road by Silver Lake with a for sale sign on her. Still looking sweet, it was on ebay last spring, call them 1-231-873-8500, good luck she is sweet looking.

Re: No Excuses

It has about 50 hours on the hull. Cockpit area is shorter and engine area is longer than a normal Saber 28 due to it originally being set up with transmissions and # 5 drives. It has a custom raised hatch similar to what PowerPlay used on their 33's. It is a very special 28 with many custom touches. The boat is literally like brand new other than a stain on the rear bench that looks like maybe a battery was set there. It has a very nice Eagle trailer with a drive guard and the upgraded fiberglass fenders. Full cover, cockpit cover, Gaffrig gauges w/ custom Saber logos, Zero Effort controls with add on trim switch, 280 K-Planes , small dash mounted GPS, no deck hatches, pop up cleats. That's about all I can remember. The original power and drives were removed when Jim D. built his 41 Victory's (now WickedWon) The transom on the 28 was plugged and the yellow on the outside was re-gelled. It looks perfect from the outside like holes had never been cut. The inside needs to be finished. It is all there except engines, accessories, exhaust, transom assemblies, drives and external steering. If you have ever seen WickedWon in person, it looks just like it.

SABER KIDS 28 Cyclone "Purple Haze" posted above is another sweet 28 Saber. It is a low hour boat with tons of custom stuff. It looks killer in the water and is definitely one of my favorite 28's.

Re: No Excuses

Thanks for the replies guys.
BGIII, the boat is set up for transmissions, right? w/ the engine mounts forward?

Saberkid, what do you have for power.
Trying to learn as much as i can about these boats.
Not alot of info out there. maybe cuz there's not alot of them out there.

Colors are off in these pics that were from the ebay ad.

Re: No Excuses

I believe the engine mounts are still set up as they were with the engines forward for the transmissions. This boat seems like a good candidate for a new set of transmissions and Konrads. Put about 650 horsepower in it and hold on. Both NO EXCUSES and PURPLE HAZE were 100+ MPH boats when delivered new. NO EXCUSES was a conservative "650 HP" and PURPLE HAZE had a set of 750 (I think) Cobras that later got bumped up a bit with some big blowers. Kind of nuts if you really think about it.

I have Hawk 525SC with CMI headers. The drives are Bravos that were set up by the Bravo Shop. (1.36 Gears) 30 Pitch four blades. Call me if you want more info. Thanks Jay.

Fully agree w/ ya here! Konrads would be great.
Also nice to have a bit of that weight forward to keep it a bit more flat. But engines and drives would cost 60-80k.
(15-20 per 600hp engine, and 15-20 per konrad drive w/ tranny and gimbal +)

So, what would it take to buy no excuses to make it worth the while??? Instead of just buying new?

Uhhh, btw... where are more pics of your project... post 'em in the ex. forum.

I think no excuses would make a sick ride... but by the time you are done w/ it you'd be close to 80-85k depending on what u can pick it up for.

I know of a guy looking for a 28 single or twin, but only looking to spend 25-30. I'd recommend saber kids boat, but that has to be double that.
Anyone have anything to recommend?

There was an all red 28 floatin around for sale up there last fall ... believe it was the first on ??? Not sure what happened to it though ??? And the all white single 502 boat I think sold late 2005 as well ..... not sure about any #'s ????

Stormrider 02-07-2006 09:32 AM

Re: No Excuses

That all white single had to go for 30 or less... I spoke to phil the owner, and others checking into it. Was probably a good buy.

Nykamp 02-07-2006 01:12 PM

Re: No Excuses

There was 2 all white singles for sale here in GH here last summer Phil's was flawless, the other one need some work. What about the twin one on boat trader? Ben's got a nice 700hp motor in the classf. here that would go in no excusses and put a good drive on No Ex. and it would be sweet, it's avaliable with headers and trans, also. Steve

Re: No Excuses

I ended up with the old "Wave Hippie" boat, so it will be headed to Kansas soon!!

I've heard that the mold for the 41ft Saber is the same as the 41ft Apache, right??? I think I heard that they bought it at an auction after the feds got APACHE. But then I've heard that someone else bought them from the Fed's????? its cornfusing

So what is the 28ft Saber Mold?? Is it the old 28ft Apache mold??? Or is it their own design????
