IMCO 2" shorties group purchase? Anyone interested?
I've been seriously considering purchasing two of these and have also noticed several others OSO'ers that are considering too.
I'm looking to buy 2 - 2" cases and 2 short vertical shafts and for the right price I might follow through. I've found the best prices so far at CP Performance. Fred can you get these? :D http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=2589 |
Re: IMCO 2" shorties group purchase? Anyone interested?
I'd be interested.
I called imco last week, their quote was $2,042, I asked if ther was any "deals" for two, they said no. I can't remember if the $2,042 gets the vertical shaft too. What about Max Worx short lowers ? Any info on those ? |

Any info on those ? $1895 at Cp all ready beats going directly through IMCO. Now all we need is to get a bunch ordered for an even better price. I would love to get the polished look, but probably a lot more. Fred? :D |

Sounds like the vertical shaft is included after reading the other posts? That's good news. I expected to pay extra for those, now I can get my shiny ones. :D

Do I just take the lower gears/guts from my Xr's and put them in the case ?? #2 I heard something about the polished versions sticking to the water, have you heard that ?? |

I may be interested but before committing I'm going to call Max worx as their billet lower is supposed to have a double lower vert shaft bearing that helps to eliminate shaft/gear flex and failure. I have a feeling though they are probably another grand more,I'm a dealer for them though and planned on getting something by spring so I'll call tomorrow and find out the price and post,Smitty

Have whoever is handling the group purchase give me a call. I haven't seen anything posted that I can't beat on a group purchase. ;)

Re: IMCO 2" shorties group purchase? Anyone interested?
No need for a group purchase, this is my everyday advertised price so if you are ready to buy you can go to:
http://www.tpmarine.com/index.asp?Pa...OD&ProdID=1166 Make sure that you enter the coupon code to receive the $1,799 price. BTW, shipping should be calculated at no more than $25 anywhere in the U.S., but if it is more for any reason I will adjust the price before I charge your credit card. You can specify length and finish preference on the order page. |

The consensus has been that the polished lower is in fact stickier and the satin most likely the fastest. I've never seen any empirical data to support that but judging by past discussions, imagine it's true. I've also seen some spots of discoloration on the polished IMCO lowers. Places where the polished metal has a slightly lighter or darker shade to it. I'm told these are areas where metal has been added after the initial casting process to address perocity issues. That's another reason I don't care for the polished version. Call if we can hook you up with 1 or 100 lowers at the BEST pricing ;) |
Re: IMCO 2" shorties group purchase? Anyone interested?
These will be going on my 28 TD Daytona with no boxes and current prop shafts @ 1/2 to 1" above lowest point on sponsons. Does anyone know if I would have planing issues by going up 2" from my current location if I'm all ready running Hydro P5X's (5 blades). I really don't want to add a tunnel tab.

Re: IMCO 2" shorties group purchase? Anyone interested?
Next round of stupid questions:
1. What if it turns out that 2" is too high and need to add a 1" spacer, what else then needs to be changed 2. How much "should" a shop charge to take my XR gears out and lowers off and put everthing back into the new shortie case and back on to an upper ? |

If you need to add a spacer, you won't need to purchase a new vertical shaft. Just keep in mind that drive spacers are fairly pricey themselves. |

What's up with that discoloration? What's the cause?
I'd like to get the shiny ones, but what, they're slower or something? Why would that be? |
Re: IMCO 2" shorties group purchase? Anyone interested?
Does it fall under the samp principal as do not wax bottom of boat?

Re: IMCO 2" shorties group purchase? Anyone interested?
I am in for (2), just need to figure out 1" or 2", probably better to go 2" and space down 1" ?? How much each are the spacers??
I would love to go Polished, but since I am doing this to p/u speed, I can't see going polished if they are actually slower/stickier than the satin  |
