Re: Powered by Lamborghini
Don Johnsons old 43 scarab that had the Lambo motors was here in Ventura for years. It sold a couple of years ago and is now back east somewhere (LOTO maybe?)

Re: Powered by Lamborghini
The European boats look a good bit larger than our supercats. Which are faster and why?

Also, you never see one of ours simply blow over like Maritimo does in that vid. What's up with that?

Re: Powered by Lamborghini
Quote: Hustler had a 50' with Lambos and Arnesons in the mid-nineties. Wild rooster-tail and 102 MPH with the engines loafing. Sound was very quiet at idle, but outrageous any other RPM. Was fun to drive.

Today these engines are in California, awaiting their new home in a platinum...

they are roughly the same size as our supercats (all new boats are between 40'-44' and older boats are grandfathered in at 39'4"-48')....the 44 mti runs over there and is basically the same as the supercat mti with a bustle and rudder... due to restrictors on the engines, they run the boats as loose as possible, really loose.... especially MP's latest creations (the latest rash of photos of the victory boats flying upside down and backwards...) and they are running much faster race speeds than our supercats...

Re: Powered by Lamborghini
Quote: the boats have a potential speed of around 170-175, but probably not propped that way for most races....they run restrictors on all those engines to keep the speeds down and to help allow teams to run different engine combos (with restrictors the 1075 makes about 950 HP)
The UIM record with restrictors on is 160 and change.
Restrictors removed probably in the range you qoute.

Heard a Lambo motor running on the dyno one day at Sterling Performance a couple years ago. Sound is awsome and unmistakeable!

I (Allez Vite) couldn't keep up with that boat in a poker run in the early 90's on Lake Michigan. And he had 6 people on board!

Re: Powered by Lamborghini
Quote: A friend of mine as ran them for years in his pleasure boat. Good Luck trying to get them rebuilt here in the U.S. They scream. I believe Don Johnson had a set. I also know that Mercury Racing did alot of testing of them in the late 80's and early 90's.
There's a pair of them on the floor At Innovation Marine right now.
