Fraud on EBAY

Here's a prime example of EBAY Fraud. This is my boat. The guy listing it used pics that I had online here on OSO and Speedwake. That's me in the PIC!!!

So can you contact the police and have them act as a buyer to catch him?

Re: Fraud on EBAY

In all actuality if he does sell it on Ebay, calls you and tells you he wants to buy it...

If you get your money and the boat sold, what the hell?

I always felt Ebay was a great way to get a "high dollar" item some major attention when selling. But I never thought people would actually make a purchase like that without seeing it.

It happens often. Report it to E-Bay and they will pull the ad.

You can do that right on E-bay.

The $$$ amount and interstate transaction makes it Federal fraud.

Aol won't help you. They are scum bags also. I was sent kiddie porn once. I called AOL and they said just delete it. I called the police and they said they would look into it.

I never heard anything again

E-bay will do more for you then aol

I reported it to ebay. I think it just takes them a while to get to it. He's definitely trying to rush the deal having a 3 day auction. He's prob. just wanting someone to send him a grand or two as a deposit.

I emailed him too and said I wanted to bid on it.lol...lol...

Re: Fraud on EBAY

Ha!! He responded to my email. He says the boat is in Europe and he'll pay for shipping. Get a load of this:

The boat is in excellent condition as you can see from the pictures.
It has never been down and it hasn't seen the rain.No scratches or any kind
of damage.
This is a one owner boat and it has a clear title.
If you are interested in buying it the price is 32.000.00 USD .
The boat will be shipped from Europe, on my expense and will be delivered
directly to your door in 5-6 days.
I will pay the shipping fees. The boat will be insured at the shipping company
for the transport.
All documents, including owner's manual, clear title and a bill of sale on
your name will be provided along with the bike.

The transaction will be made under eBay's buyer protection plan for our own
safety.
Your funds will be 100% insured by Ebay who will hold your payment until
you receive and test the bike
You will have 15 days from the time you receive the boat to inspect it and
decide if you want to keep it or not.

If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address
so I can initiate the deal through Ebay.

I'm a serious seller and a fair trader and I prefer to deal only with a serious
buyer.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Fraud on EBAY

2 years ago I saw a Corvette 4 sale on Ebay that had a rare color combo. I sent a note via ebay and the "seller" responded with the scam in Europe. When they ask for funds via one of the wire services, usually Western Union, the red flag should go up. I found who the real owner was. It was a retired FBI agent who was now working for an insurance auto theft company. He was mortified. We both reported it to Ebay but nothing further happened. Beware of the scams.

Re: Fraud on EBAY

Ummm, would it be rude to ask if you'll sell the boat to a fellow OSO member for the $32,000? :drink: jk....

I almost bought a project boat on ebay 2 Thanksgivings ago but lost the bid in the last few seconds. 2 days later I get a second chance offer. So I start emailing for more info and get suspect replies. I then contact the auction winner by phone and he said the boat is in his driveway. So I contact ebay and heard nothing back. I also contacted local police and they said the problem is too big for them to handle and just advised me to watch out in the future.

I would never buy anything substantial over ebay w/o seeing it in person. Zero $$$ would trade hands unless it was in person. Screw the deposits...they can wait until I drive to see the boat/bike/truck/car/atv....

I just emailed him to find out if I could send a deposit and how we could move forward. We'll see what happens.
