im doing mine, i think i will try to let the carbs and air cleaner stick up thru the hatch for now, trying to find some different scoops.

what boat are you doing this on? do you have any pictures of it so far, or are you just getting into it? if we have flame arrestors that were partially protected by those metal scoops that go around the flame arretors, what would be the main problem of having the engine open, as long as it was covered when it was parked? its ran in fresh water all the time, and the big canopies up front are still probably going to be taller than the engines sticking out. is it the blower and carb your worrying about, or just the flame arrestor? |

Call Fred at Trick. He'll set you up with a few scoops.

Re: hood scoop or not to hood scoop
If you go exposed I would be super afraid of some one getting caught up in the belt. You know while docking or rafting. Perhaps you could do a little of both. Raise the hatch and also have the scoops. This way you will not have a scoop sticking way up.

Re: hood scoop or not to hood scoop
thanks phantom... i think those are the ones i was looking for (i believe they are stronger than usual automotive type scoops)
audiofn: thank you very good point....docking could be a huge problem with just me and my dad trying to get to the back of the boat with 3 hot motors, and belts to get caught in... |
