I was looking at some manufacturer's brochures and noticed that they sometimes state about one model being a lake model...

I am no expert in Hull design but I know some boats are designed for lakes and other for real offshore purposes.
Don't get me wrong here, I am not only talking about boat length... As a matter of fact, I believe some 25-40 will not perform as good as we think in bad offshore conditions.

Lakes and Ocean are two REALLY different worlds. I wonder which manufacturers build their boats primary for Offshore use or lake use?

You can take an offshore boat on a lake, but taking a lake boat offshore won't be a lot of fun............
