does'nt John's boat have the tyler 750's and arnesons, that should be a good package, stay with 525's for insurance. If you have alot of seat time and 2-3 years of experience you'll get insured thru markel, should be in the 8-10k range depending on layup.

nice boat, ive been eyeing it for a while also. Let us all know how the arnesons handle. And haveing 525's dont keep ins much lower anyways, so might as well go as big as possible now.

Default Re: Need Engines......GELLNER project 2 Engines

I have a pair of 95% complete freshened 572sc 8.2:1 comp. engines that Dean Gellner has done all the work.Motors are still disassembled. All bearings and pistons have been fitted. block is GM tall deck, has been clearanced for stroker or large aluminum rods, as well as complete block machining. Dean has reviewed the project since I have had it sitting for the summer and has given me a ballpark estimate to assemble and dyno tune carbs, ignition and such.
Rough details
GM 572 10.2 tall deck, 4.5" bore, Internal balanced Crower 4.5" stroke crank, Crower 6.535" rods, Venolia flat top pistons and pins, ARP main and head studs, Crane roller cam,Isky springs, Crane Gold rockers, Ferrea valves, Dart alum 360cc heads w/ cast alum 2pc valve covers. Moroso oil pump,Manley roller chain cam drive w/ polished alum cover, Merc alum kickout style pan, Merc 420 Mega blower with 16 rib conversion including tensioner, Superchiller innercoolers, Holley twin 750 carbs, MSD distributor, Fluidampner balancer, SS crossovers, Hays lightened flywheel, polished alternators, and many misc internal components and external lines and fittings. Most all external bolts are polished stainless and many are ARP.
I had the motor completely assembled to make sure of fit and do the plumbing and then I disassembled to change the comp ratio by going to the current shorter rods. The rotating assy is already balanced and ready to go. A brief description of work to be completed is oil pan oil control mech, oil pump pickup, and then the heads I would reccomend valve fitment( guide fit, valve seat and valve fitment machining) Heads were skimmed flat, cut for preffered seals and misc. I don't have a detail sheet handy but most of the parts in these engines are new.
You can have Dean complete or you or your favorite engine shop. I would recommend keeping it all in one persons hands being Gellner.
please email me if interested in the package and you can also talk to Dean Gellner direct about details and specs of thier work as well as doin the completion. The work performed was under name Ken Helbling.

I think you will find that a 100-105mph nortech will be a ton less than a 125-130mph boat, over 850hp open wide. If you use it on loto, the 525's will push you as fast as you want to go. On the weekends 85-90 is all you want bvecause it is so crowded and rough, you just wont run 125mph but maybe twice a year there.
