Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
Dont fret boys, the senate is smarter than those ameteur house of representatives losers.
I heard that the HB162 supporters are bussing people into the senate transportation comittee meeting. They are getting desperate. They know they will have an uphill battle there.Keep your fingers crossed. If the transportation comittee doesn,t squash it, the senate hopefully will. This is FAR from over!! |
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
You should start a petition and send it to every business letting them know you will be boycotting them forever due to their support
And now you know who owns all the sail boats there :D |
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
We should start calliing the businesses on the list and set up some potential business / appointments, etc. Then call back a couple days later and cancel on the premise that you just found out that they are supporters of HB 162! Bastards! That might open an eye or two...

Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
Do something to make them realize you aren't going to just ignore them

Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
no vote today, there was more testimonies from ours and their side. Sounds like they were making a lot of claims and when asked "what proof?" - "oh we don't have any proof its just what we heard". Our side actually had stats- how about that? Vote is still pending haven't heard when (I was not able to make it today, all second hand info)

So no word on when they are going to vote?
|
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
According to one of the local papers,we had 150 people there that opposed the speed limit to their 59!! They could not provide any facts when pressed by the senate and offered no comprimises. We offered more boater education, more no wake zones and better enforcement of current laws.
The senate is supposed to take it up as early as next week. All in all, it looks to have been a good day for us! |
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
|
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
Among those registering at the hearing yesterday, 150 opposed the bill and 59 favored it. |
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
All 150 people need to get out and VOTE next election up there. heck get out and campaign for the new opposition regardless of what party they are with.

Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
We were at the Boston Boat show. My wife has been wanting one of the new Chris Crafts for some time as well as a member of the board that will go un named unless he wants to say so himself. Well after talk to Trexler's Marine for a few min. The other member remembered that Trexler's supported HB162. So he asked them how fast the Chris Craft went. He said a little over 55. At that point the member got on the guy good about them supporting the bill. The guy that we were talkign to said that he was just nutral in the whole thing so we told him that as long as they were going to support a bill like that there was no way they were getting our business. :drink: :drink:
|
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
Awesome. if I was at that show I would have screwed with him and sat down made him work out his numbers then said damn you support that speed bill don't you? OH man I can't buy a 55 mph boat from You :D

F--- them all. You should hear them on the Winni site. Boy, have they have been humbled.

Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
Congratulations Guys!
The opposition turned out the troops Friday and made some good points. From the questions the Senators asked it seemed to me they were looking for a compromise. I bet most of them don't like going against public opinion on a safety issue, but they think HB162 goes to far. I'll bet the speeds go up and it goes back to Winni only, maybe a weekend only limit. Any bets for 60/30 on summer weekends? Or an exception for the broads? One of the "59" |
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
HB162 you have been very respectful on this site and I hope that the other hear threat you as such.
I will say this. I am not at all apposed to a night time speed limit. I am not apposed to a limit in certain areas say out in front of wears. I am not there on holiday weekends so I can not speak for if holidays make any sence or not. I do not think that they do as long as they enforce the 150 foot rule sounds like you could not get on plane durring those weekends anyhow according to your camp. I do not think that a night time limit would help much as I think that the MP's would be spending most of their time at night in the congested areas looking for OUI's not in the broads looking for a speeder that MAY come along. Frankly that is the way that I would prefer it. I am far more concerned about a OUI then a speeder. What I do think that a night time limit would do is to keep the honest guys honest thus keeping the night just a little safer. Jon |
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
HB162 - your losing and from the looks of winni.com suddenly theres a lot of talk about a compromise - save it.
Its funny how when a decision appears that it will it be made based on facts and not rhetoric suddenly theres a willingness to compromise. How sweet. Its not over but appears heading in our favor. The next time your at the bingo parlor and it appears your losing ask for a compromise - "can't we all win?" Loser. I love the excuse that those in favor didn't show up because they have real jobs - thats a hoot! |
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
common sense driving is all you need whether a blow boat, cruiser or performance. thats a big lake I was up there 2 weeks ago , no to speed limits and how about a recall on the mufflers :p DRY PIPES RULE :D

Go back and read my posts, I have been talking compromise all along. Go back and read some winni.com posts. There is a large group of us that think speed limits are a good idea but thought 45/25 everywhere in the state was to much. Last summer there was a move by a member of the RR&D committee to change to 60/30. I supported that but the opposition said no, No, NO! It is the OPPOSITION that has blocked all attempts at a compromise. And if you continue to do it you just might end up with 45/25 everywhere. |
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
Audio, I also talked to Trexlers at the show. I was very surprised to hear Scott the owner say he was in favor. I worked at that marina for seven years and the owners live three doors down from me at the lake. When Scott was younger we would steal every fast boat that got delivered to the marina and take it for a blast. I remember hanging over the back of some boats holding the exhaust closed so we didn't wake up his parents. He loved speed as did his brothers. I guess he as aged. He said he will just start selling more larger Chris Crafts, but at $300,000 he should reconsider changing his mind.

They thought they couldn't loose so they would not even listen to the compromises that were offered. It was "NO LIMITS", now its to late, the bill has passes the house and the Senate is getting ready to vote on it. The quote above comes from a post HB162 made on Feb 6. The thread was moved to the bilge for a reason I can't understand. We should be fair and realize that many supporters have been trying to compromise. This "we are on top now so we will not compromise" attitude is not the best answer. I doubt the NH legislature will shoot down this bill entirely, its popular with the majority of voters. Even if voters don't understand the issues, they know how to vote out reps that go against what they want. |
Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
no compromise - we have no wake zones. 150ft rule. max decibel allowance. safe boater certificates. they are all working. the senate now knows that. the winnifabs know it and are afraid if they do not get some type of restriction now they never will with the drastic reduction of accidents over past several years. I'm 40 years old - go raise your kids to be safe responsibe boaters and leave me alone.

You use this as a chance to call me a loser. If HB162 passes as 45/25 everywhere it will be shame. I will fell sorry for all the responsible boaters that will be effected. This includes myself since I own a SeaDoo that goes 70 mph. But I only drive it to bingo with the other losers. I will however, not feel sorry for you, I will blame you for the stupidity of it all. Re: HELP !! No speed limit on NH lakes
I learned this trick of picking posts from winni.com -
You came here as a gentleman? when the house voted in favor of the bill your response was " :evilb: :evilb: :evilb: :evilb:" and others HB162 I just emailed all the Senators in NH with a link to this thread. I'm sure they will be impressed! If our side had lost, or does lose in the Senate, you would/will not see us doing the crybaby routine. Do you remember last spring and summer when many supporters wanted a 60/30 compromise? You guys would not even listen, it was "NO LIMITS". With a 60 mph limit you could have gone 80 before the MP cared. Now we will probably be stuck with this 45 limit. Don't blame me, blame yourselves! We stop when you can go out in a canoe or a kayak and not be afraid of being run down. Your other questions suggest that this law would be bad for the economy. However over 400 local businesses support the speed limit including most of the marinas, most of the hotels and restaurants, the Lakes Area Real Estate Association, NH Real Estate Association, NH Camp Directors Association, etc. etc. ........ The driver that hit Jack was found not guilty of BWI. 28 mph is over the proposed speed limit and WAY over what was "reasonable and prudent" that night. The are pictures in this very forum of the Nor-Tech on Winni that goes 130. And I am not Frank. Looks like you guys are wrong on all points. Cheer up guys. The Senate will be a lot harder to win than the House. 45/25 is still a long shot. If it fails I will come back and congratulate you. |
