this was posted on here a week or so ago. I believe someone said it was an insurance scam.

ditto, dont see how they could have gotten away fast enough to avoid getting run over, drowing, and the prop. most liekyl all onboard were doa

It was an Insurance job, by the way. The sailboat owner couldn't keep up the payments and picked a pretty bad method to pay the thing off.

Unfortunately, (for him) the accident investigation picked up on the scheme, and the carrier refused payment and filed fraud charges.
