looking for Cigarette blank 35-38ft

I'm asking this question for a friend who is looking for a Cigarette shell. The perfect hull, would be either a 35 cafe racer, or 38 top gun, with an interior. He's got everything he needs, including big power, drives, trannys trailer, guages, strainers, trim tabs, strainers, ect.. So a basic blank with an interior is all he needs. Somewhere in the 1987-1994 range, and any opinions on what price range seems to be good. I've found some already for good prices with trailers and drives, but they are mostly older flatdecks, and thats not what he's looking for. I know this is the place with all the knowledge, thats why I'm here. Thanks in advance. Rob

I know at one point board member 'SEAN' would have sold his Cafe less power/drives. Not sure about that now.

You might call Kachina Boats in Phoenix. Louie has a Gun sitting in the yard that has been blanked out. It's a mid-90's from what I recall and has a straight bottom on it, not stepped. Have no idea what a boat builder would be doing with a blanked out hull... :D

Lake Cumberland Marine has a few. Not sure what the "real" number is for them, but what they are advertising them for ($$$) is probably the reason that they've been for sale for a looooong time. I'm not sure, but I think that one of them is a staggered config.

Nope, I'm not talking about FatBoy.

One of the ones that I'm talking about is the Superman boat. The other one has prple and green graphics on it. Check out their website. Both boats are setup for #6 drives.

Re: looking for Cigarette blank 35-38ft

Thanks keep them coming. I'm looking for a pure pleasure set up, not stand up bolster or race set ups, someone that got too far into thier project boat, and is cutting thier losses. Lots of high prices so far! I looked online and theres a bunch of 87-91's in running order between 60 & 80K, so definitely south of that price for sure, not blanks for more than that, I do appreciate any leads though.

Just like the other 100000000 people looking for a steal, you're not going to find anything nice and to your specs for pennies on the dollar.

I know that, but theres always "that one" you hear about. You never know when someone reads this, they might know of a boat thats exactly what he's looking for. Nice isnt as important as solid, very nice will happen before the power goes in. Paint and upholstery are in the equasion, thats why I'm asking here networking. I'll take any leads, or criticisms, I'm on here tying to help a friend out, but thanks for the input.

I know where a 42 Cigarette Flat Deck. Its like a '91 or '92. Full Stagger. No Power or Drives. Don't quote me, but, like $40,000 or little more, not sure. Its in Central Illinois. The guy's name is Bill. His number is 309-699-5331.

Thanks for all the responces so far, Sean thats the same year & boat he's coming out of, but with updated paint & interior. He has his dash all updated too, and it looks really nice, but I think your dash looks even better. Very clean. The trailer is not needed though? Now this price for a very clean boat is more in line than 80K.

Wasn't this boat sold on Ebay last year? I seem to remember it as a 3-pack pleasure hull with a full cabin is unusual to say the least

Why not let the guy make his own decision weather or not any particular boat is a bargain.

Lots of boats out there, some need a lot of work and their owners need a reality check on value. How else would you explain any project being for sale for years.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. It ain't gonna be worth more next year. Don't rain on this guys buzz...

I'm not trying to discourage the guy at all. I'm just saying that perfect boats don't come cheap. I'm sure he'll find something he likes.

Mine will :) :)

and this kinda reminds me of one of my favorite Judas Priest songs...

Well I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again
You get nothin’ for nothin’, expect it when
You’re back seat drivin’ and your hands ain’t on the wheel
It’s easy to go along with the crowd
And find later on that your say ain’t allowed
Oh that’s the way to find what you’ve been missin’

So I’m heading out to the highway
I got nothin’ to lose at all
I’m goin’ to do it my way
Take a chance before I fall
A chance before I fall

You can hang in a left or hang in a right
The choice it is yours to do as you might
The road is open wide to place your biddin’
Now, wherever you turn, wherever you go
If you get it wrong, at least you can know
There’s miles and miles to put it back together

And I’m heading out to the highway
I got nothin’ to lose at all
I’m goin’ to do it my way
Take a chance before I fall
A chance before I fall

Makin’ a curve or takin’ the strain
On the decline, or out on the wain
Oh everybody breaks down sooner or later
We’ll put it to rights, we’ll square up and mend
Back on your feet to take the next bend
You weather every storm that’s comin’ at cha

And I’m heading out to the highway
I got nothin’ to lose at all
I’m goin’ to do it my way
Take a chance before I fall
A chance before I fall

Should look at that 41 Apache --- although it's only a 3 seater which sucks.

He's got bottom issues, it's getting too close to time to put it in the water, and the repairs are well under way, but the shops gonna get real busy soon with spring approaching, and it would be alot easier and faster to swap all the stuff out, and finish that bottom work as time permits, and if you know doug, he wants wants it in asap. The glass shop came up with the idea of a hull swap, and he said they found him a real nice flat deck with the same 3a's for 30K with a trailer, but he's looking and considering options, cuz like me, he thinks the flat decks, are sweet boats, but look a bit dated. The cafe is a great boat, he's had it for close to 10 years, with no complaints about anything as far as ride, usability, coolness factor, or room on that size hull, and a top gun has the same size cockpit, and a little more lenght and cabin, but is about the same boat, maybee a little heavier though, and its too bad the older cigs are so heavy, cuz with his power, he'd really be flying if he had a newer lighter one. Those late 80's early 90's cigs are tanks, but thats why they are so tough and ride so well in the snot. He knows I come on here, and that theres a huge audience nationwide that knows what boats are where, so I've got him pic's, numbers, and prices for everything. I'm hoping to get him hooked up asap, the moneys waiting for the right hull to pop up, and if he can get the boat in by spring, I'll be happy, cuz I know I dont want him and the 15 people he always invites out trashing my boat. He doesnt mind putting new vinyl in every few years. Me, I dont like anything but my boat always in pristine shape. It really takes the fun out for me if I'm always walking around wiping off seats, and watching everyones actions. He's more like party on, we'll clean it tomorrow.

That apache doesnt have the cockpit room for his type of boating, and it's gotta weigh alot, if anything I'd say a lighter newer cafe would be perfect. I dont know what changes they had in lamination schedules over the years, or what years the cafe ran, but his 87 is a heavy mo fo.

I know that story, too many put in bay runs with him in his boat, while I'm on mine, and other friends in fountains, hustlers, and other boats. We were all smiles running the 50 miles of lake st clair & the Detroit river, they quickly turned to frowns on lake erie's mess, as he passes up with a big smile on his face... at least he punched a nice hole thru the rollers for the rest of us to follow him the rest of the way. Teamwork baby!
