big ticket items I pay with my CC directly to the person selling.
That way I don't have to fight it out with PAYPAL.
see if you pay through Pay pal with a cc card and then never recieve the item, most folks still call the cc company and pay pal throws a fit that you reversed the CC payment and either takes the money back out of your linked account and or freezes your account. say you had $ in your account because of you had sold something, you cant touch it till they are done with their Intial investigation.

I use paypal and E-BAY often,I got shafted by a guy with a feedback rating over 400 positive on a stupid 22$ dvd, paypal did there investigation and the guy became a no longer a registered user so they refused to refund anything even though it was determined he ripped me and several others off at the same time. I have bought bigger ticket stuff off E-bay (upwards of 3-5 thousand dollars) with NO issues. I'll repeat this advice I gave last time a e-bay scam was mentioned: IF YOU ARE BUYING ANY THING THAT COST MORE THAN YOUR WILLING TO LOSE (with me that point is about 500$) OR YOUR SUSPICIOUS ABOUT A SELLER-ASK THEM FOR FULL CONTACT INFO-HOME PHONE NUMBER,CELL NUMBER,WORK NUMBER,ETC then google their name and phone number to see if they exist, call them and see if they are for real. I have went as far as asking for them to E-mail me a new(current) pic of the item for sale. If they refuse then its a SCAM! If you were selling something in a autotrader you would list your cell number, home number, pager etc,why would someone hide just because its a E-bay sale?If you were selling a motorcycle or boat or anything substantial and a out of state buyer asked for a new pic or firm cotact info most people would bend over backwards to provide info to a potential buyer.A guy had a good price on a snowmobile I was real interested in last fall,I e-mailed him asking for the above info,he said he didn't have a home phone, cell phone or work number,a digital camera to take a new pic or anything other than a E-mail address. Screw that,NO ONE selling something on E-bay is that obscure or behind the times. I have people tell me that E-bay is all scams,I don't feel that way though, just protect yourself by gathering more info,Smitty
