What about Progression, is it fast too?
What is the published weight of a Outerlimits 29, as I find it hard to believe that a state of the art mfg, has a boat that weights what a 28 Pantera weights, add that the race boat must weight 4000 lbs. what speeds will it run?

Just read over on the sv29/illmor thread that the 29 is 3750 lbs. power for power and close on weight it looks like the Tuff is faster.

the more shallow the deadrise the more boat out of the water. Deeper V's (24+) will cut deeper in the water and also run rough water better then flatter more shallow V of 22.5 and lower. There is a trade off though, it all depends on what you want it for.

With the decline in offshore powerboat racing nowadays is that even relevant?

The same 30' hull Steve built that was first to break the 100 mph barrier in 1981, is still being produced today...and still performs extremely well.

Their new 39' with staggered 565's is knocking on the door of 100 (within 2/10ths), and with some more tweaking feel it will get there.

Funny you say that...I always tell people my Velocity is just an overgrown Allison...

The SV29 Ilmor boat will weigh around 4650 lbs once completed and rigged. It does not weigh 3750 lbs as posted.

Thank You

How do get that? OL said in an earlier test that boat was 4800lbs? maybe that was test weight with a 4-5 people aboard? Im not sure? but as said earlier with all of the geewiz
lay up technology it should be pretty light. so if its 3750 and the tuff is 3300 and they run virtually the same speeds with the same power how is the tuff a faster hull?. (nevermind its is 4650)

Has there ever been a Tuff I/O with anything other than a 525? which ran 95.5, There was talk of an Ilmore boat I didn't think it ever got built.

Only the OL 29 plug had a 525, I heard it ran 94-95mph. I have no idea what that one weighed? I know it was not the same construction as the production boats.

I have been via the internet trying to get Mr. Weigl to build an Infused Tuff 28 with a canopy and a 565 and go racing against the OL. In my humble opinion I think that it would be unbeatable... But it sure is hard to convince somebody with the green to build a boat that has not been raced before when OL has proven it's abilities... Maybe if I hit the numbers.. lol.

I tend to agree with that! Especially with how important turning has become in our sport

Actually the Snowy Mountain Brewery OL has a 525 and in race mode (a minimum of 4750 lbs at the end of the race) is certainly faster than 95.5

well if the 565 boat runs 99 with Fiore at the helm then either it's lighter than race minimum weight or that 525 ain't stock (although I'm sure the canopy aerodynamics add a tic or two. )
