Default Offshore Internet Question

Can someone tell me what options are available for high speed internet while offshore? I would like to be able to connect while away from the dock in south Florida and if possible in the bahama's?

You might be able to connect with a Cell phone card but I doubt the coverage is anything worth the effort in the Bahamas.

KVH sat. goes live in May with broadband out to 200 miles from the east coast!

Their new system will permit continuous broadband while in motion. How Kewl is that!

Treo Sprint is good in U.S. waters, not broadband but it is okay. In the Bahamas I needed to subscribe to Bahamas Tel cell phone services years ago, likely the same today. Call them, they were VERY helpful in telling me how to hook-up. I believe they had a plan for people like me, a on month plan for the short time I was there. Used it for my portable computer.

Bahamas Tel were friendly and they knew whay the He$$ they were talking about, unlike the U.S. company cell phone reps I have had the displeasure to deal with.

yes....and if your within 100 miles of the tower....you can buy a antenna amp kit from www.wilsonelectronics.com the booster can be powered by 12 volt or 110 volt....you can get a varity of antennas from there....in truck I have a glass mounted one...in office trailer a bigger trucker mounted one...antenna feeds to booster then booster feeds small wire to your card.......all of these cards have a small port in the side...this is what that is for....you will more than likely hit towers in lauterdale from out there with the booster...with out booster I do not work....you will be in between dial up speed and highspeed......NOTHING...and nobody will get you to high speed...it is all a bs lie what they tell you...I have tried everything from satellite to all other companies....verizon is the fastest...I just tried the new sprint.....they are full of it also...I have spent a fortune getting to this point!
