A 500 EFI just sold yesterday on Ebay for $8500, it had 64 hours.

As far as picking up that pair for 6k...stole 'em...know where theres another pair?
All Carb 500's that used the Crane part # ???? Were at high risk!! Merc changed springs with the intro of the EFI and they seemed to work well. It was not just a couple engines here and there failing it was more like just how bad the damage would be if any. (loss of power without damage is possible) On top of the spring problem Crane had a run of bad lifters that were also used in some of the 500's (the pin holding the roller would slide out). At any rate this ended up being overlooked as the "spring" problem.
So yes it would be wise to check them over so they do last 500+ hours.
